SOURCE: 1995 f250 460 fuel injected wont start seems

If it seems flooded, the first thing to do is put a battery charger, or a battery pack or jumper cables on the battery, and hold the gas petal to the floor while cranking the engine-do this for no more than 10 second spurts, resting for at least 30 seconds between trys-then, try starting it normally (no petal at all). Do this a few times, NO petal. If it doesn't start, you have a couple of options. Get a can of starting fluid and spray it directly into the mouth of the throttle body. Not too much, a 3 second burst should work. If it does not start after this, you need to verify that you truly have spark. You can do this by placing the shaft of a screw driver (use a phillips head) and hold it by the handle, with the shaft close to a metal part of the engine, while someone cranks it over-you should see (and hear) the spark jump the gap to the metal of the engine. You can also observe the tachometer on the dash when you turn the key-does the needle move when you crank? If so, you have spark. At this point, I'd remove the plugs, and replace them-they are probably so saturated with fuel that you need to just trash them and install fresh plugs. It should then start, but make a commitment to change the oil and filter, because the flooded condition has probably thinned the oil to the point that it should be changed to avoid damage to bearings, lifters and other moving parts.

I have a 91 GMC suburban that has been sitting for a year I changed the oil and the fuel filter and repaired fuel line among lots of other things the truck started up then shuts off an smokes black

How long since over-all tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? You may need fresh fuel? If your check engine lite still works, you should be able to check some codes, yourself? I don't know liter size of engine?
Is the vehicle flooding? Use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Do you have tbi fuel injection, fuel injector/s in the throttle body. If so, the fuel pressure is 9--13 psi. Also, the coolant temp sensor could cause it to flood. Could be other issues?

2003 nissan maximal 3.5 v6 engine just shuts off sometimes will crank back sometimes want crank just turn over till u push gas to floor and hold it

You must have an engine light on (unless some shady person unhooked light). Take car to place like Autozone or other parts stores that read codes for free and have it checked. If code is found and no engine light then someone unhooked the light. On fuel injected cars you should always be able to start with no gas pedal. On old carburetor engines flooring them while cranking would start a flooded engine - but there is a problem if you are doing that with a fuel injected car. It sounds like a major sensor is dropping out, or fuel pump is going bad. If it is doing what you say - just going dead - and when checked it shows no codes at all - it is probably fuel pump getting weak.

I have to pump the throttle several times and then it starts sometimes and sounds like backfireing allthough its feul injected!

'pumping' a fuel injected engine is NOT like the old days (like with a carb)-if you hold the petal to the floor, it shuts off the injectors-NO petal, the injectors pulse (and dump fuel to an engine that is slow to start). If you are having hard starting, chances are good you have a flooding condition-leaking injectors, leaking O-rings, a damaged fuel pressure regulator could all be re3asons for your hard starting (and backfiring from a flooded engine). You should try to HOLD the petal to the floor and see if that helps-if it does, you should get the fuel regulator checked, replace the injector o-rings, check fuel pressure and might even need to consider replacing injectors themselves (or having them cleaned).

I had asked about my jag smelling like it was flooding cuaseing it to bog out on me, it is a 1990 xj6 4ltr jag

Well your car is a fuel injected engine which means than there is a different set of problems. You still could have something as simple as a bad fuel cap or a clogged vapor return line to the fuel tank.A fuel injected car is really never supposed to "flood" as the computer controls the amount of fuel allowed into the engine via the fuel injectors. You could have a fuel injector seal bad which is allowing fuel to seep out and air to seep in causing the "bogging' effect when you press on the gas.If after running it,you pull the spark plugs and they seem very "wet" with fuel, then you could have a computer problem which is allowing more fuel than is needed through the injectors.Outside of the few visual checks for leaks and or hose dry rotting,if you are not having any check engine lights coming on,then you may have to have it checked by someone with a computer reader.Try and narrow down where the fuel smell is coming from if you can.The engine or the rear of the car.If it is from the rear, replace the gas cap.If it is front the engine, look for any visible signs of fuel, then check the plugs.

In the begining would shut off while driving. change output speed sensor, ignition coil, and rotor button. Now will start, run for 2 or 3 mins. then shut off. Sometimes will not restart. Acts like it...

if your engine is a carbureted--chek the fuel filter, located in the carburetor, at the inlet line.
if fuel injected--fuel filter is located at the rear of the vehicle, on the drivers side frame rail.
also check fuel presser.. Hope this helps you???

Engine floods when started, replaced oxegen sensor, fuel flow regulator, fuel filter would maf sensor or the idle arm control cause this flooding

Generally, the first thing to check with an engine that floods on warm start is the water temperature sensor that talks to the fuel injection system. The only way the fuel injection system knows how much fuel to supply right after startup is by checking the water temperature. If the sensor says the water is cold, the fuel injection system will supply a lot of fuel. If the reading is in the valid range (just inaccurate) the computer will not recognize that the sensor is bad.
There are other possible problems, but this is where I would start. Someone needs to measure the resistance across this sensor and compare it to a chart in the manual to see if the resistance is correct for the current temperature that the sensor is seeing.

Have to hold gas pedal to the floor to start which normally would never need to. Of course it takes awhile to start but don't know what else to do

Holding a fuel injected vehicles fuel pedal to the floor will shut off the fuel injectors when cranking it over. This makes me suspect you may have a leaking fuel injector that drips inside your engine flooding it out when shut off.
There could be other issues causing this symptom but this may be a good beginning.

My car will start just fine, and I'll drive to the store and I'll try starting my car for about 5 minutes and finally it will start.

what you have is fuel injection won't start hot. usually this means that your injector system is not sealing off fuel when you shut car off. after you shut it off the fuel continues to flow for a little while, fuel pump is shut off but there is still pressure in system and it flows around bad seals. if you let it sit for several hours the fuel evaporates out of the cylinders or runs down into the oil pan. but if you try to start it hot it is the same as trying to start a flooded engine, pretty much that's what it is. believe it or not, the fastest way to clear a flood in fuel injected cars is to hold the accelerator pedal to the floor while you crank the starter. the long term fix is that your fuel injection system needs overhauled. hope that helps

ENGINE FLOODING ON START UP . . .

When starting any fuel injected vehicle you DO NOT need to press the gas peddle. Once the ignition is turned on the fuel pump energizes and fuel is injected into the intake.
