All you need to do is disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 minutes or erase them with a scanner. If the light comes back on you have not fixed the problem.

SOURCE: shift solenoid needs replacement according

There are no computers used to diagnose a vehicle

If your referring to a scan tool & codes, the codes
do not tell you to replace something

They only indicate a possible malfunction
in a system

You then have to component test to find
out if something needs replacing

A trans shop or a really good local repair shop
is what you need

Any type of issue you believe is trans related,
calls for an immediate halt to using the vehicle,
unless you got 2 or 3 grand to part with

What do I reset after changing out a shift solenoid

Question edited for a lot more clarity, spelling 'silinoid' and others.

You need a transmission specialist with a pro grade scan tool computer to diagnose why. Shift solenoids, PCM or communication problems. You can't fix this stuff by guesswork, it is electronics.

1998 Ford Contour. Turns over but will not start. No spark from the coil pack. The check engine light does not come on when you turn the key on. I think it's the computer, How can I tell?

The check engine light does not come on when you turn the key on ,burnt bulb ? Did it before you replaced the shift solenoid ? I think it's the computer, How can I tell? Hooking up a scan tool to see if it communicates . Replaced which shift solenoid ? Was there a DTC - diagnostic trouble code ?
Is there B+ voltage to the coil pack ? VT/BK wire .
Good power an grounds to the PCM ?

99 chevy silverado with the 5.3 z71 package transmission wont shift unless i let go of the gas i replaced the solenoids and its still having that problem any suggestions

DO A COMPUTER SCAN TO SEE IF YOU HAVE CODES. YOU MAY NEED TO RESET THE ECM PARAMETERS AFTER REPLACING THE SOLENOIDS BECAUSE IT MAY STILL BE IN DEFAULT MODE. I ASSUME YOU HAVE ALREADY CHECKED THE FLUID LEVEL

My 2002 honda has a transmission problem went to autozone to check on there computer it came up with p1750 code thought it was low fluid but i added fluid and it did not help the check eng light is still...

If I am not mistaken isn't that a shift solenoid code. If it is a shift solenoid code you will need to service the tranny and have it replaced. You can also check and see it there are any service bulletins or recalls on the tranny system through your local dealer.

2005 Toyota Transmission downshifts rough

Sounds like you need the updated engine computer for harsh shifting. Look up under the glove box at the computer. Number should be 89661-02K21 if not, you need the update. It is an 8/80 warranty item.
