It sounds like the starter is sticking or possibly the ignition switch may be bad has the switch lost it's return spring? does it release from crank mode or is the starter staying engaged if the starter stays engaged it may need shimmed or replaced be careful of your electrical connections

I have a 1998 Legnum VR4 Twin turbo, car sometimes has no crank no start problems, but after a few attempts car starts. I'm thinking ignition switch maybe?

no that be last to expect.(key switch) unless IMMO Is unhappy.
starter motor dead.? or stater motor cranks fast, but engine will not start and run and sustain running?,
or engine starts and stalls.? fast?
NO Crank always cause no start, NO crank means the starter motor is dead, a dead silent or clicks or chatters. only.

no crank, steps:(at the fail)
1: check that PRNDL, , shift lever for Park and for Neutral cranking.
2; step of foot brake, shift to N, and crank.with key.? cured?
3: if this fails, make sure head lamps are bright . (key on or off)
4: make sure both battery cables 4 end logs rust free and tight.
5: try jumper cable starts, (off 2nd running car)
6: replace starter relay?
7: key switch failure is last , big job, so last, or learn to test it easy wit a voltmeter.
there are other causes.(alarms that kill CRANK mode)
IMMO on the car,that does same, (has a lamp to tell you its failing)
or Remote start options or worse addon , failing?
more other causes
the main battery can be intermittent as can the Alternator.

I've lost all power to my 09 g6 tried to reset the computer and now I have nothing

See what happens when you know not what your doing . All power to what ? Instrument cluster does not light up when you turn the key on ? The Power to all systems on that vehicle are controlled by the BCM - body control module . The ignition switch is a low voltage input to the BCM .
This vehicle's body control module (BCM) has a bussed electrical center integrated into the housing. Body control relays and fuses are installed directly on the BCM, which simplifies wiring and junction blocks on the vehicle. The body control system consists of the BCM and its associated controls. Battery positive voltage is provided to the BCM from IBCM BATT 1 fuse and the IBCM BATT 2 fuse in the underhood fuse block. The module grounds are wired to ground G201, G203 and G305. The BCM is wired to the GMLAN High speed serial data buss, and the GMLAN Low speed serial data buss, as well as discrete input and output terminals to control the functions of the vehicle's body .
Power Mode Master
This vehicles body control module (BCM) functions as the power mode master (PMM). Refer to Power Mode Description and Operation for a complete description of power mode functions.

Serial Data Power Mode Master
On vehicles that have several control modules connected by serial data circuits, one module is the power mode master (PMM). On this vehicle, the PMM is the body control module (BCM). The PMM receives 3 discrete ignition switch signals to differentiate which power mode will be sent over the Serial Data circuits. The 3-wire Ignition Switch table below illustrates the state of these inputs in correspondence to the ignition switch position:

The body control module (BCM) uses the discrete ignition switch inputs Off/Run/Crank, Accessory, and ignition 1, to distinguish the correct power mode. The ignition 1 circuit is also routed to the Run/Crank relay for relay controlled power feeds during the appropriate power mode. The BCM, after determining the desired power mode, will activate the appropriate relays for that power mode.
Run/Crank Relay
The run/crank relay control circuit is connected to a constant ground and is switched by the ignition 1 circuit or the BCM. The BCM, will in lieu of the ignition switch position, activate the Run/Crank relay during a remote start event. The Run/Crank relay supplies a power signal to the following circuits, when the a Run or Crank power mode is selected:
• Automatic transmission shift indicator
• Automatic transmission (A/T)
• Switched power feeds to the BCM
• Electronic brake control module (EBCM)
• Electronic ignition module (spark control)
• Electronic power steering module (EPS)
• Fuel injectors
• Powertrain control module (PCM)
• Park neutral position (PNP) switch

You need to check for fault codes, to do this turn the key to run then off, then back to run and then off then back to run and the codes will flash out through the check engine light.

How do you replace the ignition switch on a 2002 buick century?

What do you mean no sound when turning key ? Does the car start an run ? Or the car doesn't crank ? Ignition switch's do not work the same way they did in the old days , especially on GM vehicles . The ignition switch is an input to the BCM - body control module , the BCM processes these inputs an then energizes relays to turn things on . Also sends messages to other modules for them to turn on or energize relays .
The power mode signal may be as simple as a B+ input wired to a particular ignition switch contact. If this is also the B+ supply to the module/device, the module/device will only operate with the ignition contact closed to B+. An example of this is the starter relay when it is wired directly to the CRANK/START contact of the ignition switch. When the CRANK/START contacts are closed, the starter relay is energized and provides a current source to the starter and starter solenoid. When the ignition switch leaves the CRANK/START position, the switch contacts open and the starter relay is de-energized. This removes the current source from the starter and solenoid and the starter operation stops.
Serial Data Power Mode
On vehicles that have several control modules connected by serial data circuits, one module is the power mode master (PMM). On this vehicle the PMM is the Body Control Module (BCM). The BCM receives 4 signals/circuits from the ignition switch. These are the Ignition 0, Ignition 1, Crank and Accessory 1 ignition switch signals/circuits.
To determine the correct power mode the BCM uses:

Fail-safe Operation
Since the operation of the vehicle systems depends on the power mode, there is a fail-safe plan in place should the BCM fail to send a power mode message. The fail-safe plan covers modules with discrete ignition signal inputs as well as those modules using exclusively serial data control of power mode.
Serial Data Messages The modules that depend exclusively on serial data messages for power modes stay in the state dictated by the last valid BCM message until they can check for the engine run flag status on the serial data circuits. If the BCM fails, the modules monitor the serial data circuit for the engine run flag serial data. If the engine run flag serial data is True, indicating that the engine is running, the modules fail-safe to "RUN". In this state the modules and their subsystems can support all operator requirements. If the engine run flag serial data is False, indicating that the engine is not running, the modules fail-safe to "OFF-AWAKE". In this state the modules are constantly checking for a change status message on the serial data circuits and can respond to both local inputs and serial data inputs from other modules on the vehicle.
Discrete Ignition Signals Those modules that have discrete ignition signal inputs also remain in the state dictated by the last valid BCM message received on the serial data circuits. They then check the state of their discrete ignition input to determine the current valid state. If the discrete ignition input is active, B+, the modules will fail-safe to the "RUN" power mode. If the discrete ignition input is not active, open or 0 voltage, the modules will fail-safe to "OFF-AWAKE". In this state the modules are constantly checking for a change status message on the serial data circuits and can respond to both local inputs and serial data inputs from other modules on the vehicle.
You probably won't understand any of this info. your best but would be to take it to a qualified repair shop that has proper diagnostic test equipment !

2007 HHR Has no power, replaced shifter assembly, still no power.

Check all main power feeds to all fuse centers (boxes) ! Do you know what a electrical distribution diagram is ? How to use a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter to test electrical circuits ?
Has no power, replaced shifter assembly ???? No power where ??? And why would you replace shifter assembly ???? What happens when you turn the key to on ? not start ,just on ? Insturment cluster lights up ?
Is the battery good ? Connections an cables ? Your going to need to check power at the battery ,fuse boxes etc.... Confirm there is B+ voltage somewhere !
Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop . You have no idea of the complexity of this vehicle ! Everything is contolled by computer ! The ignition switch is a input to the BCM - body control module , by these inputs the BCM will control the vehicle .

Will not crank, just grinds>

first check fuel pressure with a gauge, it should rise with the key on and hold, then check in the start mode, it sholud remain fairly constant, if there is a drop in start mode it could be the pump is not getting voltage during crank, with the key on pressure drop could be in the pressure regulator or the pump, good luck

I have a 2003 gmc sierra went to start it and it does nothing but the battery is fine what would cause that to happen

IF BATTERY CABLES CLEAN AND TIGHT.STARTER AND SOLENOID GOOD.SEE IF YOU SEE THEFT LIGHT ON WHILE KEY IN RUN POSITION.IF SECURITY LIGHT ON YOUR CAR IS IN THEFT SECURITY MODE.TRY ANOTHER KEY.PUT IN IGNITION FOR 10 MINUTES IN RUN POSITION WITH ENGINE OFF.WHEN SECURITY LIGHT TURN OFF. TURN OFF IGNITION SWITCH .WAIT 5 SECONDS TRY CRANKING TRUCK.IF STILL DONT CRANK.HAVE TRUCK HOOK UP TO A SCANNER TO CHECK FOR THEFT SECURITY MODE FAULT.

02 jimmy cranks but wont start it wants to start when you let go of the key

The electrical part of your ignition switch is going bad. While in the crank postion, you get voltage to starter and to the ignition circut, then when you let go of the key after it starts, the circut changes to the run mode for ignition-This is the mode that you are getting as you are letting go of the key.The circut for run on start up is bad. One caution when changing is that you have the passcode system, and may need to get a new key also, or at least get reprogramed in order to start.

1999 Chevy Silverdo cranks but wont start

ok check your timming belt then your ckt sensor the chip will not let the truck even crank or let the dash come on
