2000 yukon xl. 4x4 wont engage

When 4 hi . or 4 low button is pushed light just continues to blink. It will not engage just blinks .it worked fine 5 minuts ago

when 4 hi . or 4 low button is pushed light just continues to blink. It will not engage just blinks .it worked fine, I have taken it in two different mechanics. One menioned it was the transmission control module (TCM), and the other sad it was the acuator? I changed the TCM but that didn't help my problem, and it cost me thousands to replace it, but I am still having the same problem, but now, the service ride control light comes on? Please if any one has any ideas, I would love to hear what you think, as I have had 7 diagnostic tests done, and no one seems to come up with the same problem, and this is becoming quite an expence to me.

My 2000 Yukon XL with 5300 engine had same problem at 115,800 miles in Aug 2006(I bought the vehicle new January 2000)...My GMC dealer did diagnostic and replaced a faulty 4WD Transfer Case Shift Control. (reading from the service invoice) It was GM part number 15709327. Cost for the repair was $41.48 + labor $74.13, total was $115.71...it now has 165,000 on it and so far no problem and the 4WD works when I need it.

You need to replace the lockup servo mounted in the front differential housing. the light will blink to indicate that the lockup servo is not engaging/disengaging. you can get the servo at a local parts place. It is very easy to replace and is easily accessible.

4x4 will not engage, lights just blink, and you can here clicking

The 4x4 system has a controller,or computer, called the Body Control Module and there will be stored trouble codes. To work on a system that's electronically controlled, you have to get the codes from the system.Every trouble code has a diagnostic route to follow to resolve the faulty component.I have read about Explorers having faulty door open/closed sensors. These set a code in the Body Control Module, and in the process, the BCM inhibits 4x4 operation, causing a no 4 wheel drive complaint. There is also an electric motor on the transfer case that can fail electrically or mechanically, along with speed sensors and fork position sensors that can give trouble.
