Toyota odometer disconnect - 2001 Toyota Camry Solara

it wont switch until you drive one tenth of a mile past 299,999.9

Bad idea, some model had the speed sensor in speedometer and you will have poor performance of engine and transmission, try it ?

Code will come on and dealer will know by the code ,if warranty is finish it is ok, when reconnect everythink will be ok

If the odometer is incrementing mileage, the speedometer unit itself has failed. If the odometer is not incrementing, either the speedometer cable has broken or come disconnected (most likely), or the cog inside the transmission has become damaged.

The check engine light should come back on at some point.
Chances are the problem is the speed sensor in the transmission.

simple fix disconnect your car battery for 3 min and the light will turn off. there should be a toggle setting for your change oil light that you interact with in the same way that you would for your odometer and tripometer. the battery disconnect is a sure fire fix though. goodluck.

If it is the same as 2006 model
Put the key into the ignition and press the odometer button. While holding down the odometer button, turn the key to the on position. You will see "-----"on the odometer display. It will count down "-----" "----" "---" "- -" "-". Then you will see zeros on the odometer display "000000". You can now release the odometer button. This will reset the maintenance light on your dash!!!!!!

disconnect the battery for 30 secs. and then reconnect it. this will clear the ECM...and shut that light off. however,that light will come back on in about 10 mins,if you havent fixed the problem that caused it to come on in the 1st place.

It appears to be a known limitation…

“Toyota has become aware that on 2003-2008 model-year Corolla and Matrix vehicles, odometer mileage is recorded accurately only up to 299,999 km. A new odometer must then be installed.

Our dealerships record mileage and service dates when an odometer is replaced. A copy of these records is placed in the owner's manual, along with a sticker on the odometer indicating that it was replaced.

Should a used-car buyer have any questions concerning the odometer reading, they may contact Toyota Canada or inquire at the motor vehicle office in the province where the vehicle was originally sold.”

A: Mohamed Bouchama, executive director of Car Help Canada (www.carhelpcanada.com; 416-651-0555), a non-profit consumer advocacy group, replies:
“Toyota should be responsible for the total cost of the repairs. It should "do the right thing by consumers" and recall every vehicle that has this problem due to their factory defective part.”

This is an illegal proceedure. Do not do it.

Key in the off position, press and hold odometer button, turn key on. If done properly, you will see dashes on odometer, they will disappear in 10 seconds. You may now remove finger from button. The system has been reset.
