I have been having problems for a few months. The service engine soon light would come on and it would run rough and then the light would go out and it would run fine. At times it would also die, but always start right back up and run fine. I took it to a dealer a couple of times but no codes would be set and they couldn't figure out the problem. The dealership always checked the fuel pressure and it was good and I paid the bill and left each time.
Don't pull the plug wire off and hold it. You will get one hell of a shock. Instead go to autozone or similar and get a spark tester. A mass air flow sensor will make car cut off and running bad Replace sensor if that's the code you are getting. Don't let the dealer tell you no codes present the code may not be active but it will be there. Next time the light comes on go to autozone or similar and have them scan it
In that 30 to 40 min. when it won't start , check for spark at the coil ! Pull a plug wire off the engine , an hold near ground , If no spark could be the ignition module . Which engine does your caddy have ? 4.9 or 4.6 L

You don't have torque converter shudder. You don't even mention that in your original post! You def had a solenoid issue. My 94 STS did the same thing. I only had reverse, 1st and 2nd gear. Wouldn't shift outa 2nd period. It was a $200 solenoid repair. Car had a 160K on it when that happened. I have almost 170k on it now. Shifts and works fine. you don't need the tranny replaces ad josavv63 indicates.

The coolant light means the car is low on coolant. You must have a small leak somewhere. Go to your Cadilac dealer, or an auto parts store and get a gallon of anti-freeze (coolant), mix 50-50 with water. Somtimes you can buy it premixed, but it usually costs more. Put a jug of it in the trunk and add some when the light comes on. The owners manual should show you how to do that, or have someone at the dealership show you where and how to add the coolant. You may want to have a mechanic check it for leaks.
