The 4X4 is controlled by a electronic control module , without testing for codes an doing electrical test's would only be guessing ! Your best bet ,take it to a qualified repair shop .

SOURCE: transmission swap

yup, the motor and drive train are the same... if the wheel base is the same between the two trucks, than you can also use the drive shaft from it too

SOURCE: 1997 Chevy 1500 P/U 4x4 small V8. Transmission shifting issue.

you may be confusing the torque converter clutch engagement with o.d. this trans has a problem with the T.C.C. regulator valve wearing out the valve body bore. this will cause the converter clutch to engage only sometimes or not at all. this will set a P1870 code in the control module. when this code is stored in the controller, ( check engine light may or may not be on), it increases the pressure in the transmission causing the 1-2 shift to be harsh. ask a local tranny shop to scan the vehicle ( most will do this for free) if this is the problem they can either fix your valve body (sonnax parts) or replace it with an upgraded valve body. hope this helps

did you have it in neutral when you pressed the button. mine wont go in 4 low any other way. and there is a switch on the transfer case that could be the problem if it wont switch

2000 chevy suburban stuck in 4 lo anyone out that cant help

Put truck in Neutral while key in run position engine off or on (doesn't matter which). If it's pushbutton 4wd then try hitting 4low again. if that doesn't work some of the chevy trucks required you to press 4hi to get into 4high and then press 4hi again to get back to 2hi, unless yours has a 2hi button. In that case press 4hi to get into 4high and then press 2hi to get back to 2wd. either way you need to be in neutral to get out of 4lo. I have shift on the fly (Mechanical Shifter on floorboard for transfer case) on my 1990 Suburban and still have to put it in neutral to get out of 4lo. Good Luck.

Shifting 4x4 4lo

Most likely cause is the encoder motor on the transfer case.

My 2000 silverado z71 when switching to 2hi 4hi or 4lo the push button will flash and the front end will not ingage. and also have a abs light on

The 4x4 will not engage unless the ABS is in proper order the reason being. ABS cannot operate in a 4x4 engagement, and in return the 4x4 will not hi or low without the ABS concerns corrected the solution fix ABS and the 4x4 switch goes back to normal operations

Wiper motor and washer motor is one and the same..Replace the wipper motor. In 4x4 hi your turn and pull motion is one and the same and will give some resistance, however you might check your CV joints to make sure the are not damaged.
