Wont swictch back into 2 wheel drive from 4 wheel hi

I put my 99 chevy s-10 blazer from 2 hi to 4 low this morning to get out due to bad weather, when i got to the highway i put blazer in neutral and pushed 2 hi button and the button would not push in or move at all. so i pushed from 2 low which it was currently in and tried 4 hi and it went into that fine, but will not go from 4 hi/low into 2wd at all?

You could have a split vaccume line goin to the actuater switch that operats the 4 wheel drive under neath the battery box.

I have worked in GM dealership. The first thing we would do as inexpensive normal maintenance is change transfer case fluid. Once it is changed drive it until warm taking turns. Then drain it again and refill. This type of flush usually helped with any tarnish. It helped because four low is rarely used.

Most likely a bad encoder motor. These were very common problems on the S series trucks. Unfortunatly not a cheap fix either. Usually around $450 - $550, more at a dealer.

Problems with chevy s10

have the actuator (mounted on the drivers side transfer case) checked. that is what makes the selection from 2-4 hi-4 low. it takes the place of a gear shift. they are a fairly inexpensive and easy repair (if thats the problem). i would start there providing you have checked the fuses and relays. i hope this helps.

1991 S10 blazer 4x4 4.3 popping coming from the front

the popping sound is the stabilizer links or the lower control arm bushings you can replace all bushings and both link kits for around 50.00 and the light is prob from the sensor on the transfer case or the front end i would remove and clean with dawn dishwashing liquid and put them back.

86 blazer front wheel barrings how to ??

Hi there. If by gears you mean the splines on the end of the half shaft, you need to seperate the lower ball joint, if not done already, put the splines in the hub first and then hook the new bearing hub up to the lower control(ball joint) with the shaft already in place.

1993 4X4 BLASER 4WHEEL DRIVE

Your blazer is equipped with a shift on the fly four wheel drive. That means that at speeds less than fifteen miles per hour you can shift into or out of four wheel drive by simply pushing the four wheel high button. If you wish to shift into four wheel low. Stop, put the transmission into park or neutral, and push the four wheel low button. Same procedure for shifting back out. Never shift into or out of four wheel low while moving. And be careful in four wheel low. At full throttle your still barely moving, you don't want to blow your engine up!
