On my 2002 kia spectra, The dash lights and all rear running lights go out when the drivers door is opened. Also, Radio, interior, and fog lights all do not work. This happened all in the same day. I could deal with out the interior lights but a radio and fog lights would be nice with a 1 1/2 hour commute along a river.
Replace battery if more than 4 years old. Colud also be a shorted or grounded wire comin thru door.

It could mean the rod connecting the handle to the latch has broken. You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. and you can access the innards of the door
