I have a Chevy HHR...was running fine, was on a long road trip, stopped the car and it wouldn't start. Took about 10 minutes and it started. I then had trouble with loosing power going uphill. Replaced the spark plugs, now the car is very hard to start, once it does start it runs fine. Is this a sensor problem, or fuel pump?

Turn your key to the "on" position and listen...you should be able to hear the fuel pump running. If not, I would like to say to check a relay, but the hard starting was probably an indication that the pump was going bad and it most likely went. If the pump is running, I would replace the fuel filter or get a fuel pressure test at the fuel rail. Hope this helped, sorry for your troubles, and I hope you find a resolution to your problem that is not too painful.

I had a similar problem and just happened to unplug the temperature sensor for the computer and the engine started running smooth.
So I replaced the temperature sensor and all was well!

It could be either. take your car to your local auto parts stor and have them check it for codes, this should get you on the right path and most auto parts stores do this free of charge.
