My 98 nissan quest squeels every time i start it or turn on the a/c, the noise is not coming from a belt but what else could it be?

I can get the noise to stop sometimes if I rev the van above 3 RPMs, cut the a/c on & off repeatedly, or shift between park & reverse a few times. It will quit squeeling on it's own after a few minutes usually, but recently it has started squeeling when I'm driving regardless if the a/c is on or not. We have tried to pinpoint the source of the noise, but we have only established that it is NOT coming from a belt. Could it be an issue with the power steering pump or what?

SOURCE: 94 nissan maxima se, Squeeling loud when car is started.

More than likely yes it is the belt. If the belt isn't cracked, (which can be viewed by looking at the ribbed side) I would suggest some belt condtioner. If any foreign material gets on the belt (like oil) it could cause it to squeal. As long as the belt its self isn't damaged, It won't hurt anything. However this isn't a constant noise correct? Just occational? If its occational than for sure get some belt dressing/condtioner. Avaliable at Wal-mart or any autozone ect. for around 5 bucks. Hope this helps.

Why is my steering making a sound when I turn it?

Where is the sound coming from? Under the hood like a squeeling noise? Does it do it all the time or only when at a stop? Does it do it when turning in either direction? It may be low on power steering fluid or it may be the power steering pump itself.

Nissan quest 2007 whining noise in hood

Your right its probably your serpintine belt. It is a cheap repair to have a mechanic tighten belts or replace if nessasary. Better that then be stranded. Its could also possibly be your power steering pump if your low on fluid. But that you should have noticed earlier each time you turned a corner.

I hear noise when I start my 2005 nissan quest for 3 seconds and then it goes away. I only hear the noise when i start the van and the van has been parked for hours. or when it is cold.

you may have a loose belt that is squeeling when you start the vehicle..
or it could be the power steering pump....
I would need more info to diagnose this issue...

Air conditioner

The squeeling is the belt because the air compresor is likely seizing. At idle it can't turn the compressor, in motionthe compressor probably turns and cools the air. Most air conditioners come on when the defroster is on.

98 mercury villager power dteering noise and hard to turn

The squeeling noise you hear could be the bearings in your power steering pump, when bearings go bad they tend to make a squeeling noise.
