96 landrover disco power steering pump bracket broken off
Hi i have a 96 land rover 3.9 v8 the power steering bracket has broken off the the bolts at the head i have repaired it but when the belt is fitted the power steering pump has alot of flex??
Re: 96 landrover disco power steering pump bracket broken...
Really stupid question but did you get the correct belt and did you adjust the belt tensioner? On vehicles with spring type tensioner it must be pried back and then released. Slide type tensioners are usually either part of the pump bracket or alternator bracket assembly.

Hi welcome main problems are the abs valves causing the 3 dash lights (search 3 amigos online) a really badly sited compressor can cause air suspension models to fail giving the bags a slow leak the V8 is a solid engine but can have radiator expansion tank and cap failures
the other issue is electrics windows and door looms are problematic
towbar on a disco 2 is a straight forward bolt on job it attaches to the rear chassis and crossmember any good quality towbar kit will come with all bolts and washers you need plus instructions . if you get genuine landrover electrics they plug straight in without having to cut or join any wires.
I have a series 2 v8, its cutting out when driving, when idling, have checked for spark..it didn't have any then when I came back after half an hour it started, the other time I disconnected the battery for half an hour or so & it started...nay suggesttions...??
Disconnect the servo hose, remove 6 bolts, pop the pump off with harness bracket making a note of the bracket for refitting. Clean mating faces of pump & block, loosely assemble pump to block with new gasket and with harness bracket located under head of bolt noted during removal. Evenly tighten the bolts to depress the pump plunder and tighten finally to 25Nm. Reconnect the vaccum hose and secure with clip.
