The dvd player stopped working in my 2003 grand caravan and the shop wants to charge me 700 for removal and such, so I was looking to find out how to remove the player myself from the dash. How would I go about doing so? Thanks.
The haynes manual doest even mention the DVD player. The info it does have is only for the base radio.
Go to an autoparts store and buy a haynes repair manual. about $18. it'll tell you step by step instructions with pictures. save 620$
Remove the cup holder. There is a tab in the center that you can't see unless it is pulled all the way out. Next, using something flat that won't gouge the plastic piece directly above the cup holder, gently pry the plastic piece loose (insert butter knife along seam between DVD player and the 1/2" x 5" plastic strip) it should come loose rasily. You should be able to see 4 screws. Remove the two towards the inside (leave outer screws). Starting at the bottom of the console panel, gently pull the face free from its clips. There are two sets of wires holding it. You don't necessarily have to remove either set if you're only trying to get to the DVD player, which is held in by two screws that can be easily removed without much effort. Then remove the two plugs from the rear of the DVD player. All in all, it takes about two minutes and all you need is a wide flat tool (butter knife works just fine) and a Phillips head screwdriver
