They put pilot bearing in at the factory so the motors can have any trany instaled in production and not need to program one in.

SOURCE: Chaning right wheel bearing on 1999 Chevy Malibu

It is much easier, and cheaper to find a steering knuckle or "hub assembly" in a salvage yard.
To begin, jack up the car and remove the wheel. Be certain the car is stable and will not roll off jack(s)!
Remove the spindle nut. Remove the brake caliper (hang on a wire). Remove the bolt for lower ball join. Remove the bolt that goes thru strut. Now, pull assembly off while prying to ease pressure from the lower control arm.
Depending on how many miles you have on the car, you might want to head-off some future trouble by replacing the half-axle while you have the front end disassembled.

SOURCE: Need wheel bearing replacement

unfortunately your bearing assembly is a sealed unit and you have to purchase it as a complete part. they do have a way to change out the bearing at a shop, however the labor cost involved would most certainly be alot more than a replacement it's self. I have come across this problem many times and it's not as easy to switch them out as you have been told. i hope this helps. (note) to repalce them on your vehicle if you don't do the work yourself have a small shop do it not a dealer shop. the cost will be alot less. the labor time should be no more than 2 hrs. that is roughly about no more than 120- 150 dollars for the labor . if the place you take it to quotes you way more than that take it somewhere else... good luck please rate this

99 f550 cluch will not disengage. It sounded like a bearing was squealing when I would push in the cluch. Do you know if this has a hydraulic slave cylinder that may not be disengaging? Is there a throw...

You should be able to remove a cover or inspection plate at the bottom of the ****** bell housing to inspect and visually see the throw out bearing. It sound like it (the throw out bearing) completely went out or damaged the fingers it rests on to disengage the pressure plate. All clutches are pretty much the same. Flywheel bolts to the rear of the crankshaft with a pilot bearing in the center for the input shaft. The clutch disk is sandwiched between the flywheel and retained in place by the pressure plate. Followed by the throw out bearing which is operated by the release fork. You could have a bad slave cylinder, but that would not be the source for the squealing you hear. Sounds like it's time to replace the clutch assembly.

How do i get the transmission mounted to the motor of a 1979 ford bronco

is this a auto or manual ? if manual then it takes patience as the pilot bearing is a very close precision fit and has to be damn near exact. if auto, make sure the torque converter is properly installed and seated all the way in trans. I always use a floor jack under harmonic balancer to tilt motor down and to secure engine movement as well as a floor jack under trans on piece of plywood 1 foot square so not to damage trans pan. lift trans align pilot pins and get bolt or two started. just take your time and it will go providing these are the proper items being put together

Swap a manual tranny into my cherokee

I believe it does...don't forget that you need to take the pedal assembly and hydraulic system along with the trans. Unless the clutch is nearly new, I suggest that you replace it and the throwout bearing, and make sure you don't forget the pilot bearing in the rear of the crankshaft. One item I can't remember for sure but make sure the transfer case matches the trans or use the one already on it when you change them over.Same for driveshafts.
