Can you adjust the TPS on a 2001 Corolla LE? If yes how do you adjust it?

I tested the TPS with an ohm meter and these are the readings I got: Terminals 1 and 2 2.88; Terminals 1 and 3 throttle valve fully closed 2.79; Terminals 1 and 3 throttle valve fully open 0.88. According to the repair manual terminals 1 and 2 should be between 2.5--5.9. 1 and 3 should be between 0.2--5.7 with throttle valve fully closed. So both those readings seem good, but with the throttle valve fully open it says it should be between 2.0--10.2. And my reading the number actually goes down from 2.79 fully closed to 0.88 with the throttle valve fully opened. So is the TPS bad or does it just need adjusting if that's even possible?

You back probe the sensor, then turn on with the key, engine off
& take voltage readings.

Ohm meter is a waste of time.

All automotive work involves looking for voltage drops

You need your vehicles wiring diagrams

Your going to have two sensors on any TPS,
one 0 to 5V & one 5 to 0V when you open & close it

If not close to that, then it is either adjustable or worn out

SOURCE: 1984 toyota corolla 1.6 engine. How do i adjust

Carbureted models have a fast idle cam on the throttle,It is a screw that sets against a movable part, called the cam, when the engine heats up,the cam will drop upon tapping the gas pedal.Set the carb, while the engine is cold,by tapping the gas pedal, then adjust the fast idle cam screw by turning it in,with the engine running.Start out by turning the screw in a full turn before starting engine so it will run, then adjust the screw as the engine runs.

SOURCE: Corolla 1.6 VVTI motor the

With engine Crankshaft on TDC and cam timing set correctly this is the position where No. 1 cylinder is firing at the start of the power stroke. At this point No. 4 cylinder is also at TDC but is just at the end of the exhaust stroke and starting the intake stroke so the exhaust valve will be almost finished closing and the inlet valve will just be starting to open. This is referred to as the inlet and exhaust valves rocking.

Suspect throttle positioning sensor (TPS)...can be tested...need a meter set to read 5 volts DC...Tps is located on throttle body...it has a three wire connector with wire colors: Brown/Orange...Dark Blue/Dark Green...And Pink/Yellow...Engine off...Push points of safety pins deep into into rear of in place connector PLUS METER LEAD on Brown/Orange wire and NEGATIVE METER LEAD into DarkBlue/DarkGreen...Set meter to read 5 volts...Start engine...At idle (Yes, I know it is running rough) then read meter...RECORD READING...Next rev engine to full throttle...RECORD READING...First reading must be .08 volts...Second must be 4.5 volts...If second reading is less than 3 volts...example 2.4volts TPS is culprit...Replace TPS...all readings OK? Dodge ram 1500,,between 48 and 55mh. transmission starts to change out in and out of gear it will only stop if I go under 48 or above 55,

You should get an advanced obd reader to be sure that the TPS is not getting worn out in that spot. You can also use a VOM to check the TPS is you have a recording MIN/MAX feature on the meter. To test this you need to unhook the TPS (throttle position sensor) and hook up the meter to it. Then you SLOWLY press down on the pedal for the accellerator. The meter should be set to read OHMS and have min/max recording enabled. You can also have someone sit and watch the meter. The meter should go from infinty to near 0 at full throttle. You are not running the motor during this test by the way. If the meter suddenly drops out to 0 or starts showing readings that are sponeous and not in linear progression to what you are doing, the TPS is bad.

Adjust tps

It depends on the make model and year. You may be able to use a digital meter set to ohms if you can get the proper reading from the factory.

Can you adjust the TPS on a 2001 Corolla? If yes how do you adjust it?

The best way to adjust the TP position sensor is by a scan tool. With the accelerator pedal fully released the value should be between 9.8% - 18%.

I have a problem with my toyota corolla ae110. when i step on the accelerator it delays to pickup the speed.its is an auomatic transmission

Hi.

If the problem is transmission because the gears do not engage at the right time, then check the TPS. The TPS is the throttle position sensor. TPS is located on the throttle body, and detects the way you push the accelerator pedal. Along with speed sensor, the signal from TPS is used by the TCM (transmission control module) to decide when to shift gears. If the TPS is defective, the transmission will shift at the wrong time.
The TPS can be tested reading Volts (or Ohms) at TPS contacts while someone else is slowly pressing the pedal. If there gaps or irregularities in the reading, then the TPS is faulty.

If transmission is OK ensure that the problem is not the engine. An incorrect mixture or injection problems may result in slower performance.

After reading the trouble code I changed the throttle positioning sensor and now it gets too much fuel floods and will not start.

You have to zero out the postion sensor with an ohm meter. disconnect the plug for the TPS then with an ohm meter turn it to where ohm meter reads 0 ohms with throttle closed, next tighten screws then with ohm meter still connected open the throttle plate it should read 0 ohms till the plate opens and then should increase as it is put in wide open throttle postion, if it goes stratigh over to full postion then the swich is defective remove and take back to autoparts store. then restet the new switch, it is common to get a bad TPS every once and a while.

Tps a circuit low input stalls when you let foot off gas

The tps needs to be checked, with a ohm meter, unplug the sensor, and check the tps,see what the value is,between the three terminals, and then check the voltage to the sensor with a digital volt meter only, not analog. It should read 5 volts. The ohm reading will vary, but see that it does vary, and not fall in the middle of moving the lever of the tps.If it falls,or has a dead spot, replace the tps,if not, then there is another problem blaming the tps.

Looking to find the correct specs to adjust a TPS for a 1994 Mazda 929. Using a multi-purpose voltmeter.

YOU NEED 2 VOLT METERS.FIRST OF ALL START ENGINE.LET IT GET OPERATING TEMPERATURE THEN TURN OFF ENGINE.THEN YOU CONNECT TWO VOLT METERS TO THE TEST CONNECTOR.TURN IGNITION ON AND CHECK THAT CURRENT FLOWS TO ONLY ONE VOLT METER.IF BOTH VOLT METERS SHOW CURRENT FLOW REMOVE THE CAP AND TURN THE ADJUSTING SCREW COUNTERCLOCKWISE UNTIL ONE VOLT METER SHOWS CURRENT.IF NO CURRENT IS REGISTERED BY EITHER VOLTMETER TURN THE ADJUSTING SCREW CLOCK WISE UNTIL ONLY ONE VOLT METER SHOWS CURRENT.INSTALL THE CAP ON THE ADJUSTING SCREW AND DISCONNECT THE THROTTLE SENSOR CONNECTOR.CONNECT AN OHM METER TO THE THROTTLE SENSOR TERMINALS.OPEN THE THROTTLE VALVE AND CHECK THE RESISTANCE READING FROM THE THROTTLE SENSOR.AT IDLE THE THROTTLE SENSOR SHOULD SHOW ABOUT ONE KILO OHM RESISTANCE.AT WIDE OPEN THROTTLE THE SENSOR SHOULD SHOW ABOUT 5 KILO OHMS RESISTANCE.ANY RESULTS OTHER THAN THESE.REPLACE THE THROTTLE SENSOR AND RETEST.
