5 speed dodge tranny compatability

no information generic answer notify junkyard or ask dealer service dept --since you gave no information on engines-which trans you have -options / sub model etc --but just from the sensors and tcm info not compatible as a straight swap

All Chrysler products (dodge caravan) require "atf +"
in your case being a 2003 that should be type ATF+3
I would recommend using ATF+4 as a just in case measure as it will be perfectly compatability with (and better than) ATF+3 if that's what is currently installed.
The Trans in the 03 caravan takes 11 total quarts. This includes torque converter. If you are doing a simple fluid and filter change than start w with 5 quarts as will still be full. Absolutely under NO circumstances use dextron/mercon (gm) OR ATF type F (ford). Hope this helps.

Probably isn't a good idea to run regular ATF. Most chrysler products including your Caravan require ATF +4 or equiv. Typically it is more expensive than regular Atf. Most auto parts stores will stock this.

What kind of problem do you have? If it is a 4 cylinder caravan, they usually have a 3 speed auto that doesn't have any shift solenoids. If it does have the 4 speed auto, the shift solenoids are on the front of the transmission case.

i would start with the speed sensor on tip of the tranny if i was you. generally when the speed sensor goes it de- rates engine, because computer doesn't know what is happening.its located on passenger side where axle goes into transmission.

Mounted on the trany is a speedometer sensor. The vehical will not up-shift it, sensor, is malfunctioning. The vehicles computer doesn't know that it is not going fast enough to change gears.

IF your van is front wheel drive only, the transmission is indeed a 3 speed A413. If your van is all wheel drive, your transmission is a 4 speed A604. Capacity is 4 quarts or so.

replace the input speed sensor to transmission and the wiring pigtail all are available at your chrysler dealer take your vehicle registration in to the parts counter so they have your vin # to get the right part and it is the front of trans by fluid linres to radiator.

check the vehicle speed sensor in the tranny...
