1986 toyota camry fuel pump doesn't receive power, where is relay located?

I have an 1986 toyota camry gas 4 cylinder. Backing out of the driveway an the car just died. Attempted to start the car back up and couldn't hear any noise coming from the gas tank. Dropped the tank, checked the fuel pump by powering it up remotely with a spare battery and the fuel pump works. there is not any power going to the fuel pump, where is the fuel pump relay located and what does it look like or what is its part number so I can replace it?

The typical placement for the relay is under hood, mounted to wheel well, it may be on either side. Look for rectangular plastic case about 3" w by 8" l with wires attached. To access look for clips holding top cover on pry clips out and remove cover. Relays are about 1.2" square, usually black, and can be removed by pulling directly up. Relay diagram should be on inside of cover. There will be more than one (sometimes as many as 8) and if diagram is missing have a helper turn ignition on and listen for a click to narrow down which relay it is. Often times all relays are the same and you can pull one out and swap it with another to see if pump will work. Good Luck.

On the 1986 Toyota Camry the relay is behind the glove box under the dash. Remove the two screws where it hinges to remove the glove box. The relay is towards the right side. There can be other reasons that you are not getting power to the fuel pump. Test the relay before you replace it.

2007 Toyota Camry fuel pump relay

I called 3 toyota camry dealerships to buy a "2007 toyota camry fuel pump relay. None of them could find this part in their system. Nothing in the fuse/relay box in the engine compartment show anything to indicate a fuel pump relay. Many people give contradicting answers as to where the relay is located and even post diagram layouts, which don't even match what the actual engine fuse box looks like. So far it is a mystery as to where the relay is located.

Where is the fuel pump relay located in a 2007 toyota camry

The fuel pump is suppose to be buried in the middle of all the float assembly. You will need to pull it all out of the tank. You will need to disassemble the float mechanism to remove the metal cylinder in the middle which is your fuel pump. Here's a pic of what you are looking for. In some models it is located about a foot further back in the tank. According to the MFG these have been like this since 1990. Look for the item in the attached photo and you have found your fuel pump. To check the fuse and relay for this fuel pump. Try checking the fuse/relay box under the hood of this vehicle. Look at the UNDERSIDE of the relay box COVER. Toyota calls this relay a "C/OPN" relay

No power to fuel pump

You might want to check out the relay if the fuse is good. It should be located under the dash. Otherwise connect the fuel pump directly to the battery to see if the pump will run if it does check the wires that goes to the pump, the ground wires and the wires that connect to the ECU.

Where is located the fuel pump of 1986 Toyota Camry and the price

It's inside the gas tank. Took me about 20 minutes to drop the tank. 2 bolts that hold it up and undid 2 small bolts on the heat flange that seemed in the way. You should also take out the one small bolt on the driver side holding the brake cable up. You have to anyway to get the tank back in.
I got a pump online for $50. Pump only and it took about 10 minutes this morning to put it in the original bracket out of my fuel tank. So I say go with pump motor only and save big bucks.
TIP: For those of you who want to check if its your fuel pump or fuel relay. There are 2 easy places to do this. One is at the gas tank itself. Under the car they dropped the wiring harness down and put a connector in a bracket on the back of the gas tank. The second one is behind the rear seat back. Lift out the bottom seat pushing the 2 levers and then there are 2 bolts to take out to remove the rear seat back. Then you will see a connector on the passenger side up high. You can use either of these connectors to check if you got power when the key hits the start (engine cranking) position. If you do the relay is good. You can run power from a battery/charger to the fuel pump and see if it works.
