The Idle Air Control (IAC) on a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). There are no mechanical adjustments. If your engine is not idling correctly, There is a problem with your engine control system that must be diagnosed. If it is idling too high, the most likely cause is vacuum leaks.

Does iac valve have anything 2 do with a/c

The idle air control valve -- also known as the idle speed control valve -- regulates the idle speed of your engine. This is controlled by the engine's computer. Sometimes parts go bad, which results in your car idling strangely or stalling. This article will tell you how to check an idle air control valve.
See if the "check engine" light is on. If it is, use an OBD II scanner (PepBoys or other do it for free) to retrieve the codes if the car is 1996 or newer.

How to adjust the idle up to 1000 rpm on pt cruiser o4

To change the idle speed on a 2.4 pt cruiser engine, on the front side of the throttle body towards the intake manifold, there is a tiny star screw ( one with the point sticking up in the middle ) that you can turn to raise and it lower the idle speed with.

Pt cruiser cut off and will not restart this happen at light while idling, i try to restart but just turns over

Not sure if it still works, but this works on a 2001 PT.To see if there are any codes turn the key on then off 3 times fast,on the third time leave it on,Where the odometer is will display the trouble codes.Just count on1 on 2 on 3.At 24,000 ,68,000 110,000 miles my wife's 01 PT would not start(EGR Valve)at 75,000 & 140,000 crank position sensor.First time ran bad second time just died and wouldn't restart.Well hope the key thing still works and good luck.If you can get the codes then go to this link.

We have a Chrysler PT Cruiser 2.0 ltr 90K on the clock, always serviced. Now will not go into reverse gear. All other gears and clutch operation is fine....any suggestions

the shift cables can be adjusted but you will have to remove the cover around the console. Also look at the top of the transmission to see if any of the cables came off. Oreilly sells a chilton manual for pt cruisers on page 7a-2 it shows the cables and how to adjust them.

Idle goes up and down, check engine light on, brakes hard to push

Check engine for vacuum leaks at all hoses, hose connections, intake gasket etc. I have also seen retarded engine timing produce low vacuum. If no leaks, check anything in control system that controls timing...however, I believe you will find a leak before you need to go there. Also check Idle control valve and egr valve for malfunction or blockages.
