96, 5.7 Silverado cranks fine but hard to start, hot or cold

I've replace the fuel filter, plugs wires, cap, rotor, fuel pump and plug wires. Problem- I have to crank on it for 20 to 30 seconds before it will start. I've found if I crank it for 5 seconds or less and let go of the key it will fire. Then if I try it again and let go of the key it wil fire a few more times. Try it again and let the key go, it will most of the times start then. It actually started the best last winter when it was 30' below zero outside. It would start up within 5-8 seconds. I have 60 PSI at the test point for fuel presure. It doen't seem to matter if I have run the truck for more than a hour or if it is the first start of the day. It still act's the same every time. Another problem that just started is the flasher relay keeps buzzing on and off when it wants to. Some times it makes the normal blinker sound but most of the time it constantly buzzes without a break in the sound. I replaced the relay and it actually got worse? Last fall I was pulling a trailer with a load of rocks. I had the 4 way flashers on for about a hour, then they quit flashing. I'm thinking that is when the relay problem started. If I hear the flasher start to make noise I can make it stop by stepping on the brake pedal, turning on the signals or pushing the 4 way button. All those actions will make the flasher quiet. The 4 ways still do not flash but the noise is gone. The problem then is my turn signals can't work with the 4 way button depressed. Any help on the 2 problems will make me a very happy man. I didn't mention that I have 280,000.+ miles on it.

There is no fuel on the motor anywhere.

SOURCE: 1997 Chev Cavalier hard starting

it sounds like the check valve in the fuel pump is letting the fuel bleed back into the tank

The plenum shouldn't be damp with gas. Is it a throttle body fuel injection system?

Could be a leaky injector.

Truck stop while driving on hwy. replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, wires plugs cap rotor but still no start

Have your ignition module checked, my car would start and drive and would go dead after a few miles and would not start until it cooled down, turned out to be the ignition module that eventually went bad and would not start at all.

96 Toyota 4Runner sputters when starting when hot only!

how about the fuel filter. I didn't see this on your list and it should be done every 20000km and the air filter. I think its a fuel filter. not the pump. could be the coils but I would start cheap and change fuel filter first. when the pump is cold it pumps with more psi to blow passed the clooged filter after warm it is weaker and has a hard time pushing through the clog

2002 chevy 3500 duramax 6.6 ran hot now cranks but won't start

Check spark plugs, leads, distributor cap & rotor arm, fuel pump, fuel filter, coil pack(s), relays, replace any items that are suspect IE Fuel filter which has probably not been changed since new even though they should be changed on all vehicles every 18 months, all of this can be done at home & will save you a lot of bucks in mechanic/garage fees,

Have replaced the starter solenoid, spark plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, air filter, water pump and battery all within the last two months. When the truck gets hot it will not crank. Has electrical power,...

If you haven't already done so, replace the distributor cap and rotor. There is most likely corrosion inside the cap that is causing a crossfire condition.

This is a common problem on that engine.

Don't know why being hot would aggravate it, but start with the cap.
