SOURCE: lowbeam headlight not working

I went to the dealer, the parts for this are back ordered... must be a common problem.

The terminal clips weaken over time, then fail. They need to be replaced, if you go the the Volvo dealer and ask they may help you out. Failing that, you could contact Volvo directly and ask them. They may make good for you. If nobody will help you, maybe the NHSTA should know about this saftey defect...

SOURCE: Volvo S40 Low beam headlight

Sounds like a wire to me. It's definitely not fuses (unless the fuses have been split for left and right hand side which I have never come across, but we are talking about volvo lol) so I'd say most likely there'd be a break somewhere in the harness. The driver's side probably blew as all the power gets sent to one side when one bulb isn't working - so it's working twice as hard usually - making it more susceptable to blowing.

SOURCE: Headlight failure

look in the o/m for a relay in the fuse panel that controls the headlights it's not a fuse its a little silver box about the size of the search box on this page sometimes these will go bad and cause the headlights to cycle

Has the blub been tested? Have you checked the headlight connector for power (12 volts) and a good ground (less than 5 Ohms) when it is turned on? Do that and get back to me

Adjusting bi-xenon headlights on Volvo S40

This guys don't know what they are talking about. If you have self leveling head lights and they are way out of alignment, yes there is adjustment screws but those mess with a different light bulb (daytime running light) instead of the main bulb alignment.

So what is a man to do? go to the dealer and have them adjust them for you. Believe it or not everytime you get an aliment done you have to recalibrate your headlights because they change the way the vehicle sits. Do it enough times and the headlight will go out of wack (because of the self leveling function)

In other words, they headlights are adjusted by means of a Computer. You could do it your self but you have to buy the DICE VIDA adjustment tool and the proper software from Volvo. Not cheap, just go to the dealership.

Headlight problem on 1994 XJ6 Jaguar

if your car is the xj40 model the lighiting logic module is under the fascia close to the lighting switch but i think the problem is more likely to be a earth problem or simply the bulbs the twin headlamp car has one twin filament bulb on the outer and one single on the inner so if both main beam filaments fail thats what will happen

i think im right in saying the low beam bulbs are twin filament(low and high beam in one)and the main/high beam are single filament(spotlights).

Need to change the left side low beam headlight.

It might be hard to get to like that. You will see a silver metal bar with a 90 degree angle at the top that goes straight down behing the headlight assembly, which you can pull up on. It holds the headlight in. Once you pull this up pust the headlight slightly sideways as there is a plug holding the headlight in at the back, then just pull forward to give youself space to work. Clip off the two clips and slide the back cover off then you can change the bulb out.

Convert h4 headlights to twin h7 units wiring

Its a wiring issue.

Your dip switch is selecting one or t'other rather than turning the high (second) lamp on and off, no?

You will have to mod the wiring so the dip lamp is always on when h/l's are on and the main beam is brought on as well when you go to main.

This may involve fitting a new switch and modding the wiring feed. i.e H7 switch and wiring.
