2003 Suburban AC repair

AC compressor locked up and I'm going to replace it but I'm having trouble flushing metal particles out of lines to rear ac. I have a new orafice tube but it apears to only filter the front evaporator from looking at the line configurations. Is there an orafice tube in the rear ac or is there a product available to filter the suction side of the compressor to prevent damage to new compressor?

SOURCE: We have a 2003 Chevy

Verify that the temperature control inside the vehicle is actually working and not stuck in the hot position.

SOURCE: Repair leak in rear AC lines

There is a web site called www.acblockkits.com and the have a/c line repair kits and rear a/c block off kits for just about any vehicle readily available. I repaired my corroded lines last year and it took about 20 minutes and the rear a/c has been working great ever since. HIGHLY recommend this web site!!!

SOURCE: 1999 Chev Suburban 1500 with front and rear ac -

the truck has two evaporator cores one for the front unit one for the rear unit also two expansion valves, one for the front one for the rear.

check the large a/c line going to the rear unit if the line is warm with the A/C compresser running replace the rear expansion valve.

if the line is cold then replace the rear units blend actuator motor. if the frount unit is cold then most likely the blend actuator is the problem, remove the cover from the rear unit and you will see the actuator mounted on the side of the air handler box.

the best way to indentifie the unit is to buy one so you know what your looking for.

let me know if there is any thing else you need.

SOURCE: 97 suburban front air is

As for the rear A/C not being cold, it's possible there is a restriction in the rear Evaporator or the rear Expansion Valve. These can be a real bear to work on and diagnose.. it usually comes down to removing the rear Expansion Valve, blowing air through the rear Evaporator lines (to make sure there is no restriction) and the installing a new valve

Good luck, i hope this helps.

AC compressor locking up when AC is on. 1999 honda accord

When you say it is locking up, do you mean that the pulley stops spinning completely while the motor is still running? (this might cause the serpentine belt to burn, come off, or the car to stall or shudder badly)

If so, chances are that either the compressor has already failed completely, OR inside your A/C system is a part called an Orifice tube. This is basically a small filter in the A/C tubing that is supposed to catch small particles and keep them from going into the cooler/evaporator in the cabin of the car. If this little part get's totally clogged, it will cause a back up of pressure and lock the compressor up. This is something that has to be serviced by a shop with specialized tools. DIY on a/c is a bad idea as these systems are SUPER sensitive (even the humidity in the air can ruin parts if you do the job slowly and without the right tools).

If this is your problem, it will likely mean several new parts minimum for your a/c system. If you can afford it, the best bet is to take it to a professional a/c shop. If the compressor has already started to fail and there is metal in the lines, then you may need to replace the whole a/c system as it is very difficult to flush all the metal particles from all the lines and the other parts and any left over metal shavings from a broken compressor will just break the next one as well.

If there is no metal in the lines and the compressor is still in good shape and just the orifice tube is clogged, then you may have caught this in time. You then might have to replace the accumulator/dryer, the orifice tube, and the Freon. The accumulator has a chemical drier in it that if it breaks down is what may travel downline and clog the orifice tube/filter. These 3 parts MAY be a fix for you. Best of luck!

Ac filter keeps clogging with metal every other day, has new compressor

You need to have the entire system flushed to remove the metal. You'll need to have it serviced by a qualified AC shop.

Does the A/C compressor on a 2003 Suburban 6 ltr operate off the serpentine belt or from a separate one.

Hello: It has a smaller serpentine belt behind the larger belt. It also has its own tensioner (these often failed) To replace the belt for the compressor the other belt has to be removed first.

When changing A/C compressor on 99' chevy suburban 1500 what all needs to be changed or done besides the flush, vacuum and freon.

there is either an orifice tube or a expansion valve. both do the same job. however, the orifice tube should be replaced. it will filter small particles from the system and gets clogged. i would also replace the accumulater or receiver/dryer and condensor. if your compressor went bad chances are there is a lot of debris in the system. flushing doesn't always remove the debris. there is much more info on the internet regarding this subject. as well as videos on you tube

Suburban makes a clacking sound when accelerated and ac is on. When you shut ac off the sound stops. I replaced the tensioner pully this morning and it is still making the same sound

sounds like the clutch on the front of the a/c compressor unless the actual a/c compressor is locking up and causing the belt to slap.
the clutch would make a rattle like noise.

2000 Dodge Grand Caravan AC blows warm

If the compressor is running and you have the same temp on both tubes the compressor is probably shot. You need to check the pressure on the high side too. It should be around 200.

When you replace the compressor, make sure you also replace the accumulator, orifice filter and flush out the evaporator and condenser. The only moving parts on the ac system is the compressor and often when it fails it will put small metal particles into the a/c system that will cause your new one to fail.

Hope this helps.

What do I have to do to change the a/c compressor are there any special procedures or can I take the old one off put the new one on and then charge the system with coolant I have a 1996 oldsmobile delta...

if old compressor fail your air condition has to be discharge at dealership or a garage that does ac repair.then the ac lines has to be flushed out before putting on new one. because old one when it fails clutch lock up or compressor fail.small metal particles get in line.stop up orifice tube.you will have to replace orifice tube the accumalator .you will need vacuum pump to pump down air conditioner .to get moisture out of system.you will need a manifold gauge set for air conditioner.ac tools are expensive.it would be cheaper to buy compressor - accumulator - orifice tube. take it to a good air conditioner mechanics.let him put parts on and pump down system.then charge it up.because buying tools to get ac going .is going to cost $475.00 thats the vacuum pump price.you can buy a cheaper vacuum pump that works from air from a regular air compressor you pump tires up with.manifold gauge set causes from $100.00 up to $300.00 for a good set.another thing you have to be familiar with working on air conditioners you put too much R-134 in system you will damage compressor or get seriously hurt.
