When turning ignition switch only hear a pinning sound but nothing is turning on no belt spin. could it be the starter or possibly a starter relay
Need to check the timming belt. remove top plastic cover to the timming belt have someone turn the engine over see if cams are turning, check to see if cam gears still line up. hope is is the starter drive will be alot cheaper to fix
Probably the starter itself, or the starter solenoid on the side of the starter. Usually only available as one unit anyway for most vehicles. Make sure the starter motor connections are all tight before replacing it, wiring and retaining bolts, hopefully that's all it is. The other possibility is that the flywheel ring-gear could be damaged and not allowing the starter pinion gear to engage, in which case that would need to be replaced also, which involves removing the gearbox, so hope thats not the problem!
Hope this helps,
Mark.
