No they are not. Unless the manufacturers have grouped together to make a line of cars than the engines of different manufacturers are not interchangeable. Some examples are the toyota matrix and the pontiac vibe parts are largely interchangeable as they are the same car with different branding. The chevy prism and the toyota tercell.
Aztec was derived from the line of GM minivans. Many mechanical parts are interchangeable with Pontiac Montana, Chevy Venture and Olds Silhouette of that vintage. Obviously the sheetmetal is, I would say, unique.
An interchange manual could tell you. Call a salvage yard and ask them. Those interchange manuals are quite expensive to buy and keep updated. Salvage yards require them to know if parts are interchangeable. They could quickly check for you.
Is the engine from the bonneville a 3.8 too. If its is it will interchange, Just make sure you use everything off the 98, like all the sensors ect. The basic engines are the same its the add ons that will be different.
