Hand brake, stuck on.

My hand break is stuck on, but not 100%, when i pull the hand brake it engages, but even when i DONT have the brake pulled, the (emergency) brakes are still engaged, a little bit. if i had to guess, id say they are engaged about 50 percent at all times. i can still drive it, but i can def. feel the pull of the brakes.

SOURCE: The brake light warning BRAKE (I) is on, and

Sounds like the parking brake is hanging up- it's been set and won't release. Pull the handle, can you feel an increasing tension through its travel or does it just move with an even resistance and then stop hard?

If the case is the second, then the parking brake is hung up. If the handle feels like it's working properly then there may be either foreign matter in one or both rear brakes or one or both have parts that have failed- a spring, for instance, on a rear brake shoe. It would just rub going forward but would set hard backing up.

My renault scenic suv 2001 pulls to the left on the steering wheel when touch the brakes, when remove your foot off the break peddal it pulls straight again, what causes this?

Generally, this means the left side brake is engaging before the right front brake. So, check the right front brake pads and caliper to make sure they are free floating and not stuck with a little rust. Sometimes, backing up quickly and hitting the brakes kind of hard can break free the disk pads/caliper, but I would recommend taking a look at the brake pads and caliper to be sure they didn't get stuck in place.

Hand break light coming on with out using hand break

The cable tightness is loose therefore causing the light to come on while driving, tighten or replace the eb cable hope that helps or you need to push in the button on it hold the button and pull it back as far as you can. let go then push button pull back farther and release, this should tighten the tension.

My daytime running lights stopped working, changed the relay 173....no change........what else could it be?..............bulbs are ok

Is the hand break working alright? when you pull it, does the 'brake' indicator light come on? Does it go off when you release it? In normal conditions, DRL is off when the hand brake is engaged. Thus, a faulty/mis-adjusted hand brake switch could cause your issue.

Break lights dont work but blinkers and other lights do all bulbs are fine but when u push the breaks they dont work

Check under the dash for the switch hooked to the brake pedal assembly, this switch activates your brake lights, push the brake pedal with your hand does the plunger on the switch move? if not see if you can pull it down if you pull it down see if your brake lights are on if yes replace switch. if no, check it for power with a twelve volt test light, if you have power replace the switch. if no power check the fuse for brakes lights see your owners manual for location. Good luck.

My rear brake hub is stuck on my 2000chevy 1ton dully

You may need another vehicle to help pull the truck in reverse. Going backwards is the best way to break the drum loose. Also, make sure the emergency brake isn't stuck or engaged. Hopefully none of the springs inside have broken allowing the shoes to remain engaged on the drum.

When engaging the hand break it does not keep the car from rolling.

You will need to tighten the adjustments on the rear wheels so as to keep the links without much play .
jack up the car and checck the hand brake cable and the adjustments. While inthe resting postion make the play reduced. Also adjust the brake pads to come closer so that a good action comes in when the hand brake is pulled.

Saab 93 2003 the emergency break is stuck in the on position

Mine did that a few months ago. I ended up getting mad and pulling the plastic off of the emergency brake. It is just two halfs snapped together. After doing this, I could see that the cheap plastic trigger you squeeze to release the brake had a crack in it and was no longer able to pull the cable to release the brake. Until I get it fixed, I am able to just use one hand to pull up on the emergency brake slightly to ease the tension on the cable, then use the other hand the grasp the metal cable and pull it, which will allow the brake to be released back to it's lowered/released position. That was what was wrong in my case anyways... one of my MANY problems I've had with this car. I'd NEVER own another Saab.

Emergency break pedal stuck to floor, but break is disengaged

sounds like your brake cable has broken or there is something damaged in the pedal assembly.........try pulling on the release handle and move the e-brake pedal back to its off position by hand at the same time.(you may have to tie it in this position to keep it up)If that doesnt work there is a sensor on the pedal assembly that you should be able to bypass by either disconecting the wire(1 wire system) or connecting the two wires together (2 wire system)Especially if your truck is a standard the e-brake is an important safety feature,so if these steps fix the light and dinging problem you should still take the steps to have it repaired.
hope this helps.........Good Luck!
