Owner's Manual says "You can select this mode to drive with some characteristics of a manual transmission. With the HOLD mode turned on, the automatic transmission will stay in a specific gear range.

Press the HOLD button on the shift lever to turn on the HOLD mode.

While on, the HOLD indicator light on the instrument panel will light up..."

The button is on the console, next to the shift lever, and the HOLD indicator light is in the lower left hand corner of the instrument panel

If it turns on by its self it could be that the TCM is trying to safe guard the transmission. Maybe because it thinks it is overheating. In HOLD mode the shifts are commanded very early and the lock up torque converter is engaged the whole time in 4th gear. This is done to help keep temps down. So if your transmission starts to shift funny when the light turns on by its self, then you might want to seek professional help to see if the TCM thinks the trans is overheating.
If the light turns on and there is no shifting at all and it seems to be taking off very sluggish or taking off in a higher gear then the transmission is in fail-safe mode and now there is a code stored inside the TCM.

if you read that manual you learn how to use it and that it is also a warning lamp for transmission errors from the TCM brain.
why not buy the manual , we cant pay for you the look it up for you every odd lamp that glows.

    its a feature lamp. hold.
    and a warning, 2 things.
if you had googled for that, you'd see
that you are not the first owner on earth with one nor one in warning mode.

learn to search and not ask for spoon feeding on such and easy topic.

Shifter loose like a spring is gone have to hold to left to work it properly 2007 suzuki forenza

get to the top of the gear box and you will find 4 bolts that hold the turret to the top of the box take it off and the gear lever comes with it . In the gear box there will be a slot across all the selector rails that is neutral for the gear lever. At one end of the slot you will see a plunger that is spring loaded This prevents inadvertent selection of reverse and it pushes the gear lever to the central position. check that spring operation

My gear shift locks in my 1994 lexus400

The brake light switch is going out, it's mounted behind the brake pedal inside the car on the firewall. It serves three purposes, it turns on the brake lights, cancels the cruise control and disconnects the shift lock.
