CHANGED BATTERY AND LOST RADIO USAGE - Civic Honda Cars & Trucks

  • jlanctot Jan 02, 2009

I did not change the battery.  Instead I went to turn on my car and it was dead.  I proceeded to jump the vehicle to get it started and the car turned over.  The radio began to blink "CODE" and I did not know the code at the time so I did not proceed.  After I drove my car and turned it off, I later came back to the vehicle, started it up, and the "CODE" was gone on the display of the radio and the radio would not turn on at all.

Battery went dead, got it recharged, car operates fine, but I cannot figure out how to get the radio functioning again.

2002 bmw x5 3.0, changed-out battery & lost audio on radio (factory stock ).visual display ok.

You need to have the anti-theft code put in to make the radio work, this happens when the battery power is lost. Call the dealer or go to www.radio-codes.com

Those are often located either somewhere in your manual or on a label in the glovebox.

Changed battery and had to reset everything after wards. now the radio isn't working

possibly due to security, if a radio is stolen the power is lost so it will not work in another car, as your car lost power the radio may be locked. check your manual and see if there is a code to put in to get the radio working, best would be to go to VW and they will be able to reset it for you.

I hope this was useful.

I changed car battery and now heat/air & radio not coming on.

if you have an anti theft radio in your car from the factory, then you will have to take it to the dealer to have it unlocked. They are the only ones that can do that. When you changed the battery, the power was lost to the radio so it shut itself down so it could not be used if stolen. Hope this helps.

I fit a new battery in my jeep and the code from my radio is gone

I had same problem last year when I too changed the battery and had lost the code. I did a search using "radio codes" and a UK site produced the answer in a few hours for a small sum. You will need the radio serial number which is on the rear or top of the radio.

2002 xjr 100 radio will not power after battery change

If the battery went dead and you charged it, you need to reboot the system. It has lost them function of radio.
Disconnect both side of the battery and with the battery disconnected, crank the car 3-4 times (This just discharges the computers). Then reconnect the battery cables (pos + first) and you should have a working radio again.
