Grinding noise when turning a bend - 2005 Mazda 6

Congats to you, especially at 53. Go back to the passenger side and check the backing plate/dust cover for the rotor. They do bend or can be bent when doing the work you did. They can and will make noise and get louder when turning. I usually use a screwdriver and go around and bend it away from the rotor. Sometimes I have to pull the tire off, because it is rusted and rubbing towards to center of the rotor.

Forget the oil leak thats just the rear end oil seal but the grinding noise is a wheel bearing for sure and as you go around a bend one way the noise lessens ,these cars are bulltet proof and the gearbox is stout so suspect a wheel bearing or ask a local mechanic to have a drive and get his opinion

I had some issues with my 2005 explorer left rear. It was making a creepy old door sound at low speeds and then a high pitched whisel at high speeds. That turned out to be a broken wheel bearing and had it replaced. Note each wheel has two wheel bearings. After that a new noise developed that sounded like metal scraping/ grinding metal. It end up being the brake dust cover got bent when they replaced the bearing and it was rubbing something, the fix for that was bending it so it didn't rub. I hope this helps.

Could be a heat sheild on the back of the front brake dics, they often orrode and bend inwards contacting the brake disc, they rot quite bad and often need to be removed, only thin metal tricky to see so you will have to look under the front wheels around the back of the wheel, on the back of the brake disc. They only make a noise when turning as the suspension leg turns unto it.

I would remove the distributor cap, and turn the crankshaft pulley while watching the rotor to see if the rotor turns.

Pull the wheel off and inspect the brake pads and also rotate the hub. If a grinding noise is heard loadly the pads are worn. If the noise is low and internal it will be the wheel bearing. The CV joint makes clicking noises upon turning corners while driving if worn

I would investigate the transfer case. By your description here it sounds as if the gears inside are worn and the drive chain inside is rubbing, causing the loud noise you hear.

the grinding nose you heard was something rubbing on the rotor, bad brakes, caliper, after market wheels, etc. the pressure of a turn bends something enough to touch, this is produceing metal flake that attached to the magnetic sensor on the abs sending a light on because it couldn't read the tire position as it turned, it may have got blown off, washed off, but when it can read the tire again the light will go off, i would look into the grinding noise on cornering thats the cause of the problem. hope this helps

check dust sheild clearence from rotor these bend back easily and could be the culprit..
