Hi Kim,
When you say that it will not unlock "...or otherwise" do you mean that the door will not open AT ALL from either the inside or the outside? If this is the case, it will require a lot of instruction on my part and a lot of patience and the ability to follow instructions on your part to get the door panel removed without destroying anything so we can get the door open to work on it.
I can walk you through this, if you would like to sign up for my premium services. (This way, I can send both instructions as well as diagrams or pictures)
I will stick with you for as long as it takes to get your door repaired, but I should warn you that this is NOT going to be EASY or fast.

1995 Nissan Maxima. The driver's side door will not open AT ALL. One day, I went to shut the door( while I was in it) and it was blocked. The latch was down. I don't know why. So, I hit the unlock button on the door panel and then it shut fine. I went to my next destination and when I tried to unlock it, it wouldn't The lock mechanism makes the noises and tries to unlock but, it wont. the other doors do unlock. I have tried using the key from the outside and that doesn't work either. the key does not turn. I have never had this happen on this car before. On my chevy truck, I used a screw driver to undo the latch while the door was open and didn't have any other problems. I
I am a very broke, desperate, mother who can't afford any money. That is why I went to the internet. Would the Haynes manual have the instructions? I can pay the favor forward by helping someone else in distress. I hope that this would be a satisfactory solution to my payment dilemma. Thank you, Kim
OK Kim,
I understand your dilema. I've been in similar situations where things are not great to begin with, then the [BLANKETY-BLANK] car decides to add more frustration to the mix!
We should work on this on a day when you don't need the car for the day. The first thing you are going to have to do is remove the front seats from the car to get room to work on the driver's door panel.
There is a real good chance that your latch mechanism is jammed, and we MIGHT be able to get it working again without replacing any parts. The trick is getting the door panel removed without destroying anything.
NO, the hayns manual is not going to be any help here. Those things are pretty worthless when you are working on a NORMAL part replacement because they are so "general" and "vague". This is definitely "outside the box" when it comes to normal service. However, I have experience in dealing with this type of problem. If you will work with me, I will help you get through it.
I have to go to work right now. (I only do this in the evenings and on weekends) I will put a file together to send you some information for you to read and get prepaired to do the job. When I get the information together, I will post a link here so you can download it. - OK?
