Hi i have a 85 nissan pickup with a stock carb. my problem is that after start up and after a few minutes i step on the gas to lower the idle but it just dies and only way i can keep it idling is to keep my foot on the accelarator. few minutes later it will idle jst fine until i shut it off.

Depends on tank capacity, average gas consumptions, driving habits and road conditions

Hi Shane,I have a 85 Nissan 720 4x4 with the 2.4 engine,had her for 22 years,our trucks have bad carburators,when I bought mine used,it had 108,000 miles on it and my carb started giving me problems,with the ideling,took it and had it rebuilt by 3 different carb shops at 200 a whop,no one could get it right,so I took it to the Nissan Dealer,they told me that they couldn't rebuilt it cause the bottom part is not assible,and told me that they were a bad design,so I did some research and found out about Weber carburators,so I bought one from redline,they cost 269.00 with kit,it's been on my 720 for 6 years now,plus I got a new remanufactured engine from Jasper engines and had a jasper installer put in in at the same time I put the new weber in.I spent a fortune trying to get the stock carb. right.I have 328,000 miles on the truck and it runs perfect.I plan on keeping my truck forever and that's the reason I put alot of money in it,A couple of months ago I redid the interior,it is now gray,was black,I live in Georgia and it is hot.Here's a video of mt Weber conversion,I have more pics and videos in you would like to see.My phone number is 706-580-6110 and my name is Tommy.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5Fe9N0q2Kk

Lack of.gas getting to carb or tbi. Howes the gas tank vent or fuel.filter? Or even.just lots of water.in gas.

Sounds like a fuel pressure issue. Have you changed your fuel filter lately ?

Maybe the PCV, Air flow meter, TPS-fuel pressure (pump), or dirty injectors. Could also be the AFM door sticking

Hi,I have a 85 nissan 720 4x4 2.4 with a Weber carb,never had to mess with the timing chain,but I do have another engine in it.These trucks have carb, issues,I got rid of my stock carb,couldn't do nothing with it,dealer said they were junk,so I put a Weber on it and it is so awesome now.The valves should be adjusted when the engine is hot.Could be the person that put the new timing chain in did it wrong.Here's a video I did after I installed the Weber carb.I never had a issue with having to adjust the valves.My old carb at the end would always idle high.The timing might not of been set right with the new timing chain.I have the factory repair manual I bought from the nissan dealer.I've had my Truck since 92,it's mint,speedo has 343,000 miles on it,Jasper engine has 53,000 miles on it,transmission is a remanufactured one,it has 3000 miles on it. 85 Nissan 720 4x4 2 4 Weber conversion Here's the carb I put on it.Here's a cool Nissan 720 site to join,it cost 5 bucks,I am a member,it's like a forum where 720 owners react with helping each other,you have a page where you can post pics of your ride and you can see other peoples 720's. http://720world.com/Weber Carb Conversion fits Nissan Pickup 83 86 Z24 Electric Choke Weber...
