Cars these days have colored dip sticks. One is yellow and one is red. The red one would be your transmission dipstick. Check the transmission with the car running. If you are low. Get a funnel and put it where the dip stick came from and put some transmission fluid in it and put the dip stick back in the hole.
first locate the dip stick for the transmission under the hood, after that start car and let run for 1 min,( car has to be running to check transmission) pull dip stick out and wipe it off the stick it back in and check the level again, if it is low you will have to pour the trans. fluid in thru the dip stick hole, add a little at a time and continue to check fluid level until it reachs fill mark on dip stick also the do not make a manuel for the Lincoln LS you can order a disk from Helminc.com that covers all related thigns for this car I had to order one for my LS good luck
No, you add fluid in the same hole the check stick is located. Remove teh dip stick and put funnel in teh hole and add fluid in the same location. if that is a manual transmission you will ahve to locate teh check hole on the side of the transmission, normally passenger side or rear of teh transmission and add fluid at that location. Since the lines connected to your radiator I assume you have an automatic since manual transmissions normally do not.
If this is a manual trany you need to fill from under the car on the side of the case, if your car has an automatic trany then open the hood and look at the left side of trany it will be behind the radiator fan on the trany way down you will see a dip stick this is where you check the level and fill or add fluid, you add into the same hole as the dip stick goes into, when checking the level of the trany oil make sure the car is on level ground and engine is warm, the dip stick unscrews to remove and when checking the level just put back in hole dont screw down to check level, then remove and it just read near full, if between add and full thats okay, if at add then add a pint go through gear and recheck.
WHICH DIP STICK OIL DIP STICK FRONT OF ENGINE BELOW FRONT VALVE COVER.THE TRANSMISSION DONT HAVE A DIP STICK IT HAS A VENT FILLER CAP.THE GARAGE HAS TO PUT CAR ON A LIFT TO CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID BY REMOVING A CHECK PLUG.IF TOO FLUID COMES OUT PLUG HOLE TOO MUCH FLUID IN TRANSMISSION IF NO FLUID COMES OUT NEED TO ADD SOME.IF A SMALL SLOW DRIP COME OUT TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL IS OKAY.SEE THE GARAGE HAS TO RAISE VECHICLE UP WHILE RUNNING IT HAS TO BE LEVEL THEY REMOVE THE CHECK PLUG TO SEE HOW MUCH FLUID IN TRANSMISSION.ITS DANGEROUS TO DO IT YOUR SELF.
If its a Automatic i presume it is, Locate the Dip Stick for your Transmission.Once located pull the Dip Stick Out wipe it off ,And toward and on the Bottom of the Dip Stick you need to Read it. It will shopw a mark (FULL) and it may tell you to Check when its Hot.If so go on a Short Drive come Back Pull the Dip stick out and if its below the Full mark ,Just buy a Funnel to fit the Small Hole the Dip Stick was It and Add a Little at a Time until it Reaches the Full Mark.(DONT OVER FILL IT) and Check to Make sure you put the Right Type of Fluid in. Your Local Parts Store Should beable to Guide you to The Correct Fluid: From The WYOCWBOY
if it is an automatic transmission, the dip stick is under the hood and should be on the drivers side of the engine, start the car leave it in park, pull the dip stick out and wipe it off with a cloth, reinstall the dip stick in the filler tube completely, and remove again and notice where the fluid level is on the dip stick,if you need to add fluid to bring it up to full, the correct fluid for your car is printed on the dip stick, you need a transmission funnel and put in in the tube you pulled the dip stick out of. if you transmission is a standard, there is a 5/8 bolt on the side of the transmission you remove and put something like a screw driver in the hole to see where the fluid level is,.
You have to check the fluid from the bottom on the back side of the
transmission with a special tool. So if you don't have a way of getting
under the car or have a special tool to do it with then you won't be
able to. You also have to fill the fluid using this same hole.
YOUR CAR DONT HAVE DIP STICK.IT HAS A OIL FILLER CAP.YOUR NOW HAS TO BE PUT ON A CAR LIFT.AT DEALERSHIP.THEY HAVE TO RAISE IT UP.MAKE SURE IT IS LEVEL.THEY HAVE TO REMOVE A DRIP PLUG ON TRANSMISSION.CHECK FLUID WHILE ITS RUNNING.FLUID COMING OUT DRIP HOLE DETERMINE HOW MUCH FLUID IN TRANSMISSION.FAST DRIP MEANS TOO MUCH.SLOW DRIP LEVEL CORRECT.NO DRIP MEANS YOU NEED TO ADD TRANSMISSION FLUID.
