1997 Nissan Maxima w/330,000 miles, excellent condition. Had bobbing when turning but no popping like most axles do, pulled into Nissan place and bearings blew out of axle. They replaced and said may cause transmission problems later since blew apart. This is the second replaced axle. Now, while turning hard right and accelerating I feel a slipping feeling I believe may be the transmission, however, shop guy thinks it is the motor mounts as the engine raises more than usual and may cause the slipping feeling. I hate to spend big bucks replacing motor mounts if it is the transmission ...car is only worth about 2000. Thanks for any input.

Most shops will check the mounts for you for free, and replacing the axles will be a normal thing for the amount of miles you have on your car,, ( 2 times) they don't always pop or click when they go bad,, they just GOOOO ,, motor mounts are around 100 bucks,, search prices as they vary a bunch ,, I would suggest you take your car to a transmission shop, and ask them for a normal service,, that way you get the trans serviced, and mention to them about the motor mounts, they will check them for you ,, again shop prices,, I got my trans fluids and filter changed for 39 dollars just last week , and they told me I had a bad muffler mount I was unaware of,, when its up on the rack its so much easier to detect problems,, and this was a cheap way for me to go, and I still got the tarans serviced

How to install cv axle into transaxle?

the axle just pops out using a pry bar.
the new axle is popped in by hitting a wood block at the end of the axle.or the method below.DO NOT hit the axle shaft directly with a hammer,as the threads are easily damaged
Alot of times the axle can be installed by holding the axle in the middle, inserting the inner spline into the transaxle and giving the axle a fast push.once the retainer clip pops into place ,thats it.
i usually replace the axle seal as well.

Im wondering how to replace the passenger side lower cv axle

take wheel off. remove axle bolt, remove tie rod[requires ball-joint remover tool],got to remove brakeassembly also.put pry bar between transmission housing and axle and pop it out. to install, just line splines up and pop it in.only has a circlip that wiil pop in and hold it in place. not as hard as you might think.taking your time to make sure you do it right will only take about 1 hour. good luck.

Were do i find the starter on a 1997 nissan maxima. How long and how hard is it to do? Do you get from top or bottom? Is ther a lot to take off to get to it?

yes they are on the bottom and infront where you pop the hood but very bottom they take about 2 hours to replace and they have a couple wires and 3 bolts to pull it off just make sure pull positive battery terminal to not get shocked beforehand
