You can't "repair" a rotor, if its bad, replace them , both sides.

Front drivers side disc brake on 2001 dodge stratus. put on new rotor and brake pads. Get up to around 5mph it makes a noise, until brakes are hit. accelerate the noise starts again. outer brake pad is...

The piston from the caliber will keep the inner and outer pads close to the rotor. If outer pads is loose, need to reassemble to find out if it didn't get installed right.

I have a 98 dodge stratus, are the rear breaks rotors or disc?

You do not require a mechanic to do this job. lst remove any wheel front or back. You probably have front disk and drum on the back.
To remove the rotor, you will see two bolts holding brake capalier on the rotor. Remove these and pry the capalier from the rotor. Now you need to remove the pads. Simple to remove, but when replacing you need a 6 inch c clamp to force the pressure mechanism back into the rotor in order to replace the pads. Remove the rotors and have them researfaced any any machine shop. Cost around $10 per rotor. Pick you up some antisizing compound and high temp grease. Follow instructions on the label. Now remove a back wheel, if you do not see a rotor then its a drum. To remove a drum you will need a several tools to replace the drums. Purchase these at Harbor Freight or Sears. Much cheaper at Harbor freight. Now remove the other wheel and repair one wheel at a time, by checking back wsith the wheel that has not been disambled. Before replacing have the drums reserfaced. Now once the job is completed you need to tighten up the wheel by using the special tool which you purchased. Tighten a little at a time AND ONCE THE WHEEL becomes hard to turn back off a turn. Do the same thing to the other wheel. May take you all day to do the job. But it's the way I learned to do a brake job. Hope this is helpful.

Front brakes??

There are a few diffenet things to test. the front rotors could be slightly warped. You could need an allighnment. At a small chance you could have uneven pressure going to each caliper and you might need to bleed the brakes. At any of these cases, one of your tires is pulling more than the other.

Replaced left front caliper and both front rotors. front of car shakes when I apply the brakes but stops when I push harder. Shakes again if I have to slam on the brakes

you may need to bleed the brakes and clean the rotors of any brake fluid. usually tires get bad if u had this problem before. i mean rotate the tires see if this stops the shaking.

I charge 1.2 hours labor ($50-80/hour) to change the pads and rotors. Decent pads are about $40.

Front disc brakes

insert clips into caliper bridge, where the pads ride on it.be sure to clean it good and lube your slides with brake silicone. If slides freeze up on you it, it will prematurelly wear your new brake pads.
