I have a friend who has a 2004 ford f150. The check engine light and abs light is on and the truck jolts like is trying to shift gears a steady speed. What might be the problem?

Take it to Autozone, Advance, or Oreilys for a FREE scan. Since a problem light is on, the computer will tell you what part is bad.

The ABS can have a problem reading the RPM of each wheel if there is dirt or debris blocking a sensor. Common problems are the rear Emergency brake shoes coming apart within the drum portion of the rear rotor. The rear of the truck has 2 braking systems, an Emergency brake and a service brake.

The ABS portion of your problem can also be scanned with a better scanner having more functions. The "Check engine" light is on a separate system and most minimum priced scanners will work with it. Since the ABS is automatically operating, a malfunction can result in a jolt as the individual brakes are wrongly applied.

The ABS will apply the brakes to the fastest spinning wheel and this will result in a drivetrain jolt.

Can you tell me the amps on fuse #16 on a 2004 Ford F150 FX4? My shifter has zero resistance when I try and put the truck in gear. So I cannot get it into reverse or drive at this time. Wondering if it...

Fuse 16 is a 10 amp fuse. It goes to the ABS module (run/start power). You also have fuse 33 (15 Amp) Shift solenoid. Both fuses are mini fuses.

My rear end chatters around corners and if im pulling a trailer my abs light and the wrench shaped light will come on in my 2004 f150 fx4 supercrew

If you have a locking rear diff,it could be the clutches on the side gears or lack of fluid and special additive. Sounds like the wheel speed is off enough on corner,to set the ABS light, when it chatters. Don't over look parking brake and rear caliper issues.

ON MY FORD F150 IT WON1T GO INTO REVERSE. SHIFTS

Call a dealer about a new recall. There is another problem in the cruise control that is making it hard to put a vehicle into reverse. There are also problems with brake lights and dash indicators for the ABS all caused by the cruise control. This includes about 16 million various Ford products.

Slower engine speed in 4wd mode, 1st or 2nd gear (auto trans)

mcdevito75 here, I would figure yes, if your shifting while in motion, definetly yes, when you shift your changeing gear ratios in the 4 wheel drive or the transmission, this will cause the engine to slow but also make the gas pedal moe responsive. If you feel or hear this slowing down of the engine while standing still (at a red light) it"s most likely the computer contolled sensor in the tranny. I woulkd still check with my local shop for their advice too.

Corolla kicks/jolts when shifting gears.

I am trying to understand your problem. Check engine mounts. Have a driver in the car, hood open. Start car, foot on brakes, shift from park to reverse and back again. Shift through all gears, look for unusual engine movements around engine mounts area. Left foot on brakes, press gas in drive and reverse;watch for excessive engine movements. Be careful as you perform these steps. You may also want to check drive axles. Keep me updated.

2004 f150 fuse location in engine cavity

Look for a box under the hood. It should be over a wheel well, or next to the fire wall. Once the lid is removed there will be a diagram of the fuses... Also check the main fuse box under the dash, might be there, but not likely.
