Hi-
My 1981 Corvette just takes off ( Accelerates ) unexpectedly, even when i break!
It doesn't do it all the time, just sometimes. It doesn't appear to be the throttle linkage.
Can you help!? Right now, it's unsafe!
Thanks for your help and time!!
Best-
Glen

you don't, it either works or does'nt, check all grounds, put power to it (12) volts, sending units are very delicate, care must be taken when replacing, in tank, . a wire diagram would show you the power wire, the ground wire, etc., maybe you can check it ?
Could be the module is fubar since you have B+ at the terminal. U can also install a hidden double pole switch that deactivates the fuel pump and ignition circuits. And if you want to be fancy you can do the same with a relay that opens those circuits automatically when ignition key is removed so you do not even have to throw a switch!
Car doesn't turn over, but ignition turns on? Doesn't happen all the time,it just happens.. If I let it sit for a while it all of sudden turns over and starts. Happened twice this year..
Simple remove heat shields, removed four bolts on each set(therefore there are 8bolts total) remove exhaust manifold clean manifold replace with new gaskets. If bolts are rusted spray them with any lubricant the night before the job use a new socket and have a sandwhich and a cold beverage handy. Enjoy this its easy and fun. Don't sweat it if you break a bolt in the manifold... just let me know and I'll walk you threw it. .. By the way its a good time to use some dressing on the manifold pipes. It will make the engine seen new.
you will need to pull off the four retaining nuts holding seat in place. Measure the length and width of bottom support frames. Many seats are interchangable.
Sure not a problem! I have a '76 Corvette. I use Mid America Motorworks. You may also want to search Ebay. I have purchased a lot of parts from both places, and have never been dissatisfied.
(I was a little skeptical about Ebay at first, but I dealt with those that have Ebay stores, checked their Seller rating, their Feedback score, and posted questions to them. Always got the part I wanted, and pretty darn fast!)
I bought my carpet set, and various steering components from Mid America Motorworks. They send me a catalog about two to three times a year. They have those T-Top gaskets sets for an '81 Corvette. Your Corvette is a C3 like mine.
The rear spring has weakened over time. Also, check that the Stabilizer link to the rear spring, on the left side hasn't broken. It's a bolt that goes down through the end of the bearing support, and attaches to the end of the spring. Sometimes the bolt rusts away, and breaks. The left front spring may be weak also. The car is 28 years old now. I have a 1976 Corvette, and customize Corvettes in my spare time.
If you tap the accelerator when it is doing this does it stop?
