2000 Toyota MR2 Spyder Questions & Answers
2000 toyota mr2 burninig a lot of oil, misfiring, lose of power, check engine light blinking
There are different reasons why this problem is happening. From your description, I believe that you may have an engine failure. Defective piston rings and/or damaged valve seals or guides. The first think I would do is perform a compression test. A compression test (wet and dry) will tell you if the compression levels are even and acceptable. It will also tell you if you are having a valve related issue within the head. Where you are losing oil, I would start here. There really is only three places for oil two go, when there is a failure. into the cylinders and out the exhaust, in the coolant, and onto the ground. I hope this helps, please write back if you have additional questions or updates on your progress, good luck.
My car won't start it simply keeps clicking when
Sounds like you need to replace the battery, the battery can have enough power to run lights, stereo, and other accesories but it takes alot of amperage to power the starter motor, so if that is the case you will hear the starter solenoid clicking but no action from the starter. Good luck. !
ZZW30 Toyota MR2 Water comes trough the softtop on
I had the same Problem on my 2000 MR2 Spyder. If you gently pop off the black vents on the outside you will see the drain. With your top up feel back in the inside window well you will find the other end of that drain. I took the shop vac on the outside of that drain (the end that was behind the vent) and sucked it out while sticking a coat hanger (straightened out) down the drain from the inside. Then took the hose and flushed it out from the inside! Take a bucket of water and dump it over the outside of your roof and watch it drain! Works great and found out this is a standard problem with them!

If you have been using after market units and not genuine ones the problem may be in the fact that the cpu is programmed to read the parameters of genuine OEM equipment and generic units are not always compatible with the factory cpu. Contact a speed shop and see if it is possible to have the cpu reset to your units.
