I have an 89 Cressida. It's starting to die every once in a while when I was driving it down the road and then finally broke down on the side of the road cut it home and I check spark and fuel spark and fuel but when I put Ether to it won't start why

check engine codes. possible ignition module failure. using ether will wash cylinder walls and cause a low compression issue as well FYI

Car is over heating, boiling

Check your coolant levels and make sure the hose between the coolant reservoir and the radiator aren't clogged. The cooling fan on the radiator may not be directly driven by the serpentine belt and may be on a clutch. If the clutch is broken the fan won't cool the radiator and the radiator won't cool the car. Get the car good and hot and see if the fan kicks on. To temporarily relieve the overheating in the engine, turn the heat on in your car.

Could be the switch or wiring. The resistor can be checked with an ohm meter but they are substantial and not prone to turning up faulty when new.

I CAN tell you that just cleaning out the plug wells is a good idea so no crud gets in the cylinders when plug is pulled. The center piece you speak of is not understood. As for the gasket sealer, yes, it's a good idea to use Black RTV on the head surface after cleaning and to stick the gasket to the valve cover.

I have a toyota cressida gli 6 1989 ,has spark and

Where had you checked spark first? Is the distributor turning? This can be checked by removing the distributor cap and making sure the shaft is turning as the engine cranks. Have you checked that there is spark at the plugs? The ignition coil could be weak and still produce some spark but not enough to start the engine. Be cautious of all rotating belts and pulleys around the engine while working under the hood.

White smoke from exhaust, really rough idle, loss of power when accelerating, and smoke coming from passenger rear side of motor under hood. What could be the issue?

Hi Corey: Sounds a lot like a bad head gasket. With the engine cold, check the coolant level in the radiator. Low is not good. Pull the spark plugs. Any fouled ones - not good. A compression test will confirm. Temporary fix that will sometimes delay major maintenance.......... try Aluma-Seal additive to radiator. Top up with coolant. This is NOT a long term repair, and depending on how badly the head gasket is damaged, it may not even work.

Where is the freeze plug located at on a 1989 cressida

The freezer plug is located on the left side of the motor under the exhaust manifold towards the back.I think its visible if you take off the metal heat shield that's on the manifold or maybe from the bottom if you lift the car.If its not leaking from there than it could be coming from the back of the motor. There are hoses, a EGR cooling plate and metal water lines on the motor.
