2002 Mercury sable misfiring only on cylinder 3

Can't believe some the lame answers here. Anyone having this issue check the PCV hose where it attaches too the air intake, the rubber breaks down and develops a leak. But these engines also have wiring issues that causes crankshaft sensor to fail at startup or under 1000 rpms causing the computer to shoot a code and trigger the engine light. I have these issue cause the above problem.

Replacing a clockspring in a 2002 mercury sable?

Clocksprings are part of computers. They are electronic parts inside the computer. If someone told you that you can replace it they were wrong. Unless your an electronic engineer. but you would still have to find it.

Heat in the car

Have someone hold the heater hoses at the Firewall where both travel through the heater core. When the heat is turned on and the engine has run to normal running temperature both the hoses should be equally hot. If one side is hot and one is not, the water flow valve is not opening. If both hoses are hot, then the inside ductwork is not channeling the airflow properly. If both hoses are only warm, not hot, then the Thermostat is stuck open and needs to be replaced. Then retest the heater hoses for warmth.

New battery and alternator still will not charge battery

its probably the fuse link located on the positive cable. that would explain the no charge condition. also check battery terminals for cleanliness. the fuse link is a weak point designed into the charging system so in the case of a power spike, the fuse blows out instead of an expensive electrical component. it may be in a fuse box for that matter.
