'94 Volvo 940. w/102.500 miles... Speedometer

HI,

Sounds serious. If the truck is still running right the PCM may be going out. Start buy spending $30 dollars on a speed sencor attached to the top of the differential that should remove the OD flashing light and the ABS Light also fix the speedo not sure about the service engine soon light that could be many other problems..Your Vehicle velocity sensor has gone bad or the wire harness has gone bad. Check the wire harness first and if that is good, then replace the sensor. You can find the sensor on the transmission out put shaft on the drivers side

Thanks for contacting Fixya.

Engine idles irratic

Did you have the head machined/shaved before you replaced the head gasket with a new one? If not--do over---machine head---replace gasket.

BUT, before you even bother, have you considered the fact that the BLOCK may be cracked? You can check this by looking at each spark (plug for combustion residue of coolant or oil) of each cylinder separately.

How do I disable the seatbelt chime on an '89 VW?

look at the buckle and see if there are two wires going into it. if there is cut those and wire them together. or you can try and follow those wires back until you hit a fuze or something. alot of times though that fuse is shared with something else silly like a dome light or radio though

Need code for radio in a 940 volvo

The original response is correct about acquiring the code from the dealer. However, if you just purchased the car, check inside the glove box/manual as it may be located there. Also, you may want to try pulling the radio out of the dash. I have found them written on the radio as well. Defeats the purpose, but some people do it anyway.

The dash panel was all dead but the clock but i

The speed sensor should be in the rear differential. It should have a two wire connector going into a sensor on the back of the case cover. The wire is known to break from time to time right at the connector. Sometimes the wire breaks inside the insulation. Gently tug on the wire it it's broken inside it will completely break when you tug on it.

If the wire isn't broken use an ohm meter hooked up across the two sensor connectors. While watching the meter (with the car in neutral with the rear tires off the ground and the front wheels chalked in place. Also make sure the car is supported on jack stands) turn the drive shaft, if the sensor is working the ohm meter will start to fluctuate. If there is no reading the sensor is bad. This is not common, but it happens.

If the reading is normal and the wire is not broken the you will have to check it at the instrument cluster, but I don't know what wires to check at the cluster, you will need to get a shop manual or wiring diagram.

If I remember right that cluster has a "U" shaped pins in the connector that attach to the wiring plate. Use a pair of pliers and close the "U" shape down a little. They are known to expand over time and cause a loss of contact.

I hope this helps

Need radio code for a 1993 Volvo 940 GL

I'm pretty sure that you can call any Volvo dealer and get the code...talk to the service manager.

You can pay for codes online but there is no real need to.

Changinh headlight with new

Is the problem a burnt bulb or broken headlight? The bulbs come out from under the hood...there is a black serrated knob to losen and pull out...the bulb should be resting within the piece.

Don't touch the bulb with your fingers....only the perimeter. Bulbs can be regular or special high intensity ones...at any parts store. Easy to do.

What service is required for a 1993 Volvo 940 Turbo

Best bet is to talk with the local Volvo service manager..or a skilled mechanic. Normally, I don't think any real service is needed, unless there is a problem. Changing oil every 3K is good..not racing the car (turbo) just as you start up or shut it down is helpful too.
