2006 Subaru Outback - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
2006 outback 2.5L tapping noise at 2500 to 3500 rpm
How many miles? Is it a clicking "tapping" or a solid tapping?. Subaru engines say many things. A clicking tapping may be the fuel injectors. A solid "tapping" at 25 to 35 sounds more like a rod bearing or a piston slap. A thumping sound is the main bearing. My guess would be a rod bearing.

ABS Light and Check Engine Light on, Cruise light flashing
I had this occur on my 2007 Subaru Tribeca. ABS, Traction Control, Check Engine lights were solid, Cruise Control light was blinking and "Er SS" (commonly misread as Er 55) displayed on Trip Odometer. All lights were cleared after 10 or so miles. It appears this is a Speed Sensor (SS) reading error whereby the computer notices an irregularity with the readings taken from the four wheels. Most often it is a temporary and harmless glitch and sometimes a result of debris that is impeding the sensor's reading at one of the wheels.

Clicking sound but engine won't start
This actually does sound like the battery is low on charge. A battery which is quite low on charge will still light the headlights and run many other electrical accessories, but will not engage the starter (which requires much more power than other accessories).
I would start by making sure that an electrical device, such as interior lights, glove box lights, trunk light or something else has not been left on. Then carefully jump start the engine. It is also possible that the battery might need to be replaced for not holding a charge.

Check engine light on, cruise light flashing
As far as the cruise control light flashing, the light is flashing to tell you that the cruise has been disabled. The vehicle's computer will disable the cruise control from working when certain trouble codes are set in the PCM (main computer), which the computer thinks may cause harm with the cruise engaged.
The check engine light may not be connected to the deer hit. I have seen many times when something like this is a coincidence. That being said, the jarring from the deer hit may have caused a vacuum leak. Or perhaps there is more damage than you might think under the hood.

Front end clicking noise on 96 subaru impreza
jack the wheel up and and sharp spin left and right should help you locate the problem. did you change both sets of the universal joints, if so did you really pack them well with the grease as sometimes if the grease is not well packed you can get a dry spot and this will heat up and become damaged.

I have bad road noise after 40 mph. This started after changed tires and both front boots and axles
to possible answers
the axles are new and the cv joints mat be firm resulting in noise transmission through failing engine mounts ( unlikely but possible )
the tread pattern may be the cause of the noise especially if the tyre pressure is incorrect
Take it back to the shop and take them for a road test to see if they can find the reason
when drive axles have to replaced , it generally means that the front lower arms have to be disconnected so a wheel alignment may also be in order

Wife says herd a clunk and now thumping if you move car
First of all did she run over something that has stuck under the car? Check and see if you have a clunking in one of the wheels Could be a brake in a wheel has come apart. Try and see if it does it again and some one stand beside the car as it moves slowly to find out where the noise is coming from. May not be serious and again it could be. If she drove on snow it could even be a build up of ice and snow. You are not clear what kind of noise and very hard to answer.
