What is an AIS Motor

I have never heard of an AIS motor on a jeep or any other vehicle for that matter. A PCM is the computer that runs the cars Electronics. Without the PCM the car doesn't run.

1989 jeep cherokee skipping problem

it may not be the problem but check the earthing strip or put a new earth wire from the engine block to the shell or negative on the battery and see if this stops it, can happen if the earth is damaged or not connecting properly, as parts not getting the correct voltage.

.1989 Jeep Cherokee rough running problems.

if the distribuitor was not new or fully reconditined then it is possible that it is still at fault have the ignition timing checked witha timing light to ensure that it is correct ( most operate at the 10-12 degrees btdc at idle speed of 850 rpms with the timing light operating , if the light flashes all over the place , that indicates a distributor shaft that is bent , worn or has worn bushes as the light has to flash consistantly on the one spot to be a good distributor doesn't say much for the mechanic not to try to fix a problem that you have paid for but relates to his workmanship

Why does it just stop running?

Crankshaft position sensor is a very common cause of this problem. The vehicle will shut off without warning at any time if the signal this sensor produces is interupted. The vehicle may restart immediaetly or may start again when cooled down. Eventually it may fail completely and the vehicle not restart at all

What causes too much co in youre exhuast

If you have a fuel sensor check that out. Could need replacing. Also when was the last time you changed the air cleaner filter. A dirty air filter will cause that as well as it can't breath properly. Just some ideas.

Where is fuel pump fuse

4.0L engine inline 6, ? must i guess that? EFI varies by that. its in the fuse box? i bet you want fuse actual name.... ok, 89 is a very old car, sold all 2 of mine. early XJ jeeps. (AMC ) the 89s have this junk french ECU. called RENIX google this pos. no scan tools fit it, is why i dont like it. 93 up are good jeeps. my guess is , engine dont run, why not give full inputs to the tech. like that. so i can be on same page.... yah think? but ok, ill play this game..... Easter egg hunts to nowhere. normal fuel pressure is 31PSI. if zero pressure we check 12vdc at pump cranking. if zero volts at pump cranking. then check fuel pump relay. all 4 pins, (ask for checks ) the fuel pump relay has 2 fuses. one is ignition fuse link F green and the pump fuse is G orange. the full schematic is at alldata.com anyone can look, pay fee. of fuel pressure is ok and injector dont inject well that is a longer story, that i can answer easy, so ask. 25943125-1ak23giogk35cldw332dzks5-2-0.jpg

Ac not cold cool but not cold

Have you recently added R-19 refrigerant to your Jeep? The 1989 model base requires R-19 Freon, not the newer R-134A designed for the newer cars...Has your stock system been re-fitted for the new R-134A refrigerant? If cool but not cold, the system could be low...or need a clean/new orifice tube...Try for a free inspection in your area...

Where can I find a wiring schematic for the power windows in an 89 Cherokee 4 door?

the schematics are (real) are rear, FSMalldata.com has it.why not use the best source first.https://www.scantool.net/software/alldata-diy-1-month-subscription.htmlmy online source is down this mornning... later for sure.got power to the switches?all windows dead.? up and down.?usually the switch grounds the motor and it moves.so power to the switch is key, as are FUSEs and on many carsthe windows use Circuit breakers, so that fuses dont blow with iced up windows.,.... by design....

How to remove tire on a 1988 jeep cherokee 4x4

unless you have or knows who would have done that it will be just rust around the wheel studs and the axle centre section use a liberal dose of a rust penetrate, and hit the rim from behind to loosen it off the axle.

Why does my jeep feel like running over speed bumps

According to what I perceive you are discribing in first and second gear your vehicle is lurching but it smooths out in 3rd gear. I would suspect if it is a manual transmission you have a clutch plate not engaging. If it is an automatic transmission the bands are shot. Without a better discription of the problem that's my best guess.

I recently purchased a 1989 Jeep Cherokee Laredo with a 4.0 inline 6. Being a used vehicle I replaced several parts i.e. brakes, shocks, water pump, starter, battery, distributor cap and rotor, plug w

first never by pre 93 jeeps. and 89s are the worst, with Bendix /Renix fueling system (brain dead) you never said where your right foot , was doing at SAU. off pedal, or cruising or what? cant guess this and is key to cause. SUA 101 (owned 2, and wished none) well, it can only happen for these reasons. throttle stuck open ( TV cable sticking gunk under tv,) yes the ecu SOFTWARE is inane and does race the engine with TPS errors, a real pain in the ash can that. "classic Renix BS" ISC sticking, mine did every 10,000 miles, for 500k miles 2 cars. i use Russian, gun lube on it to stop it , until about 25k miles. the ISC is a stepper motor , has a cone valve, it loves to stick and it will either stall or race, based on pure luck of WHEN it stuck. (knowing how its used, is key, ill skip all those facts now) THIS ENGINE IS MAP BASED, called speed density and if there is no air, there will be no speed. air is key here, on a hot start, there is very little air flowing. a bad TPS is worse cold due to all that extra air. no scan tools no flash codes ecu. yes, brain dead they are, (cept a the rare jeep dealer with relic tools) i used, dry spray gun lube, that is used in -50F hunting in the gun actions, it looks like Teflon when sprayed on , brown. and is very slippery, its vary had to find here. but is magic to the rest of the story is on ISC the isc is used driving too. at foot off gas. pedal (its and air pedal in EFI world) it opens the ISC to prevent passenger neck stepping. with no air at all this would happen, due to TV 100% closed and engine pumping losses. (sucking against the heard closed TV plate) so the ISC is used, at all times, except at cruise or w.o.t., clean it and report, there is no reason to replace it ,the new one sticks for same reason. cone to seat. (gunk from PCV CLOUD) HOW IS THAT? http://www.archoilcart.com/ar2400-clp-gun-cleaner-lubrication-and-protection-4oz.aspx not my brand, im 3000 miles from my chem cab, on vacation so can't look, but like this . it's more paint like, and drys fast. good luck, i have 80 JK now, and zero issues, on personal cars. things to watch for. 1: cracked exhaust manifold, makes 02 sensor go nuts. 2: exhaust clamp from H3LL , below bell housing, it breaks allowing exhaust to swing like a pendulum and allow cat to shake hard , causing cat breakup and clogs. Engine didnt like stuffed exhaust. Good: real good brakes, with sst + teflon guides in calipers, nice nice nice. with fluid purgers Dot3/4 brakes lasted 15 years. (pads excepted sure) never ever own or buy french EFI. "Renix" cars.
