A/C ford explorer 1993

Whe you retrofitted the system to r134a ,did you subtract the amount from r12 to r134a. The system will hold less r134a than r12. It is roughly four oz less than r12.

Where is the timing chain tensioner located on a 4.0 SOHC, 1998 Ford Explorer 2 door

The tensioner is located at the rear (right side) of motor. Jack the car up, remove right front wheel, remove the splash guard. Looking up, above the exhaust manifold near rear of motor you'll see a BLACK 25mm or 27mm bolt head....That's the tensioner.

Starts runs down the road but dies after a few miles

Consider the age of the vehicle and the fact that you have good electrical power : I would consider cleaning out my EGR valve or replacing it, and I would clean out my Throttle Body, and I would replace my Throttle Position Sensor. I would test my PGMFI(FUEL INJECTION MAIN RELAY) . Keep in mind that the symptoms you described are also similar to a failing fuel pump and a failing starter. You can do all of the work first but I still suggest that you buy a cheap $35. - $50. OBD Scanner and plug it in to see failure codes. You can look up the failure codes with this link : http://obdii.pro/en/model/honda just choose your specific vehicle to see details about your specific code(s).
