Yes it will, Not because of the fuel filer itself but from the lack of fuel pressure causes other problems. Replace the filter and see what happens. There also is a tank sock filter but it is usually NEVER it. Hope this helps MIke

Hmm sounds bizarre, I had a '96 exploder with 4wd. my forward drive shaft U joint went bad on a longer than usual trip and vibrated the tail shaft of the transmission until it broke the case. I strongly recommend against any do-it-yourself remedies, What did the adjuster determine? I took the vehicle to a reputable shop to have the tranny repaired, (re-built) $3000+ New case. Two years later it went out again, and another $1500 rebuild. They need a special tool to install some o-rings and it costs over $1000. If it is worth it to you I recommend taking it to a major Ford Factory Certified Shop, (dealer) and having a New Transmission installed, (not rebuilt, re-certified, or any other term for Not New) Make sure it has a nice long warranty period.
