yes their is a tube as you call it on the older models ,this is one of the first of the full multipoint injection with a catalytic convertewr to comply with the europeon regulations brought in for that year ,now later ones had a stepper motor for the idle ,but this one --i think-- has a adjuster screw for the mixture on idle which i think is the tube being refered too.Its a bosch system and i beleave it has a breather tube from the engine to teh inlet manifold and this could need cleaning as well ,same old story i work on all these cars but cannot remember every thing about a particular model as they often and do change every few months in manufacture. Now as for the overheating this could be anything and without head under bonnet then its difficult to say but i would plump for head gasket failure as they do on these cars after so long and it may even need doing a second time around.Make sure you only use antifreeze mix and not just water as this cause problems in itself .

1992 GTI, Mk2, 2L(2E) 8valve. Engine cuts out

Hi

the cause wil be the air mass meter also known as the air mass sensor, when this fails the car struggles for air and hence cuts out, this is made worse when the lights are on at night as the car will be trying to compensate the failed air sensor with more power so it will **** more power from the battery to keep the engine running, when you put the lights on it wil make it harder for the altenator to provide power to everything at once, very common fault on this car.

Regards

Dan

hi,
those timing belt tensioners on those strip out and they go out of time. If your handy you could rethread it with a new bolt, but the bolt is special, maybe you have a volkswagen mechanic in your area, tell him this, but take the cover off and check your timing marks and make sure this is what it is for sure, if its in time then maybe a vac leak or clogged fuel filter.
good luck

No spark or fuel on my 92vw golf

check voltage to both coil and hall sender. should get battery voltage across two outer terminals on hall sender. battery voltage at black wire on coil. should get 5volts[pulsing] out put on center wire on hall sender. if input voltage ok but out put not, hall sender faulty. coil and fuel pump need an engine speed signal to activate.

My 1996 golf 3 Gli has always maintained a 90'C

the easiest fix would be to replace the thermostat. it might not be opening fully. an engine not running at the correct temperature might cause drivability problems. other causes might be a clooged coolant system, which would require a flush treatment. a partially collapsed hose. or a bad water pump. also, if air was trapped in the system, the car would run hotter. what did the mechanic say about it?

1992 VW GTI 16v check engine light???

The light has likely burned out. I doubt if someone removed the bulb. Have that checked before hitting the panic button! Any car with computer controls has a light.

To low idle

since you said that the speed of the engine not goes beyond 950 rpm , the problem lies with the engine.get an authorized service personnel to open up and check up your engine for any wear and tear on piston rings or the crank shaft couplings with that of piston.and also change the engine oil ..hope your problem will be tackled.

Car is locked

There really is only one answer to your troubles...you need to call a locksmith, it's gonna cost a few dollars, but it's the best way to get in......or, depending on how busy your police departments are, they have been known, in some locations, to help people get thier keys out.

Good luck, I hope this helps you.
