with the supplied hoses use a bit of silicone high temp on each surface an good clamps dont over tighten.

since they are stuck open well then all you can do is pour something into the oil like in old days . we used kerosene . or gas an let it set a few days then turn it over a few to break it all loose. then drain it out of the oil an let set to get out fumes. run some high detergent oil or cleaner when you have it running again. some times we poured in some transmission fluid into the carb to burn . cleaning a sticky gooie engine is a tricky task. carefull slow running if the oil is over filled with anything. it takes time to break up gunk. open each sparkplug hole an spray stuff up in it.

If you have a soft brake pedal and have to push hard to slow down or pump the brakes to slow down then you probably have air in the brake lines from the last brake pad replacement. The brakes need to be bled with this method: Use 1/8 inch 2 foot long hose from parts store and attach the hose from bleeder valve ball on the brake caliper to a bottle partially filled with brake fluid. The end of the hose in the bottle must be submerged in the fluid in the bottle. With a second person holding the brake pedal to the floor, slowly turn bleeder valve counter clockwise (loosen tiny bit) with wrench and watch for dirty brake fluid to create bubbles in the bottle. When bubbles start, quickly tighten bleeder valve back to tight. Second person should lift foot, pump and then while valve is still tight should push the pedal to the floor again and THEN you again open bleeder valve slowly turning counter clockwise and watch for bubbles. Repeat until no more bubbles can be created in the bottle where the hose is submerged. Move to next caliper and repeat. For a firm brake pedal you will need to repeat this on all four calipers.

This sounds like you may have a problem with the shift linkage and when you jack up the car it is taking the pressure off of linkage and frees it up, I am not for sure but some have adjustments that can be made to fix the problem. If that's not the problem then you may have a problem with the trans itself. If you can get to the trans you could unhook the linkage and try shifting the trans with the conectors coming from the trans.

You did not say which engine you have so I checked the DOHC non turbo 3.0 engine.Yes it is an interference engine, so yes you could damage the valves when the timing belt breaks and the engine is running.
