1993 Mitsubishi 3000GT Questions & Answers
1993 Mitsubishi 3000gt won't go into 4th gear
The 3rd to OD shift solenoid is bad. You have to remove the transmission pan to replace it. While in there, I would take out the other 2 and thoroughly clean them with spray brake or carb cleaner. You will be amazed how much crud will come out.
You may have some other problems too. The Mitsus of that era were notorious for having circuit board problems in the engine and transmission computers. The capacitors leaked and damaged the circuit boards. Sometimes they can be saved by replacing the caps and a thorough cleaning. I have rebuilt several over the years, not always successfully.
A guy named Dean Mason at TransLab in Cali makes a shift improver kit for your car. I STRONGLY recommend you install one when the pan is off. If you are on the east coast, try John at Import Performance Trans in NJ.
Not sure what you mean by "gear shifter is going into different gears without pushing button.
I have owned a 91 3000GT for 8 years and know them like the back of my hand. If you need anymore help, post here and I will give you my email.
Removal of headlight
Im pretty sure you use the button on the dash to raise the lamps with the light off, remove the covers on the side of the headlamp to expose the metal bracket that holds the lamp in place. When removing the bracket, be sure to only remove the screws that hold it in place- NOT the ones that adjust the aim.

1993 3000GT LIFTER TICK
generally a car of that age is going to have a lifter ticking. it's usually nothing to worry about but can be fixed. basically you will have to take of the manifold covers and unless you know which one is ticking you will need to adjust/replace all of them. just don't get a lifter ticking confused with an engine knocking.
Car shuts off going down road
Honestly, it could be several things. For some reason the car could be losing power to the injectors, fuel pump or the ignition system. If you can get a mechanic to check it out, have him drive it down hill, because its probably the only way to figure it out for sure

Vacum hose
There are several variables here. First, it must be determined if your vehicle is equipped with emission controls that were certified for sale in California. (This makes a big difference on vacuum hose routing) Then, there are different diagrams for early 1993 models and late 1993 models. My recommendation is to either buy the Mis=tsubishi shop repair manual for your vehicle, or subscribe to an information service such as AllData DIY. That way, you can look at the diagrams and compare them to what you actually have under your hood. AllData DIY is currently available for a single vehicle for only $26.95/year. It has all the service information you could ever need for your vehicle. Click the following link to check it out.
