Temperature sensor problem?

On my 02 pontiac Aztek the temperature gauge rises pretty quickly when stopped at a light or sitting for a few minutes, but as soon as I start moving again the temp falls back to normal about 1/2 way up the gauge. I have noticed that the cooling fans do not seem to come on, I have let the gauge raise to about 3/4 and the fans do not come on. If I turn on the A/C both fans come on and stay running. So far It has not overheated and I would like to keep it that way. I am ASSUMING the temp sensor might be going bad as is seems to cool back down indicating the thermostat is functioning, also the heater works fine indicating it is circulating fluid properly. so I am thinking it is just the sensor and am curious where the offending sensor located?

There are 2 different circuit that control the cooling fans.
The engine controller turns the low speed fan circuit on to control temperature and turns on the high speed fan circuit if the engine and A/C is running.
It sounds like your low speed fan function is not working.
Find your fan 1 fuse located in the under hood fuse panel and make sure it is not blown. If OK go to next step.
Find your fan 1 relay located in the under hood fuse panel. Find another relay in the fuse panel that matches and swap the two. If the fan then works you know you have a bad relay.
If both are check good, let me know and we will go from there.
Below, I have attached the wiring diagram for your cooling system, hope it helps.

I have a 2004 Pontiac Aztek. The AWD Disable and Anti Lock lights are on and it doesn't want to accelerate? Anyone know or have had this problem?

The AWD Disable and Anti Lock lights can result from a bad wheel bearing as well as a bad speed sensor. They'll also come on if you have the spare tire on. Not sure if the acceleration problem is linked to the warning lights. Most car part stores have scanners they can check out the problem.

Modern cars have shift interlock solenoids that prevent you from taking it out of park without pressing the brake. If your brake lights work, then the switch is good and the solenoid needs to be replaced. Look in your owners manual as it will give you instructions for taking it out of park until you get this fixed. It usually involves sticking a screwdriver in from the side to push the release lever out of the way and then you take it out of park.

There are two purge screws. One located at the top of the water pump, the other at the top of the thermostat housing. Unscrew them using a 7mm, leave open until Dexcool starts coming out. You may have to do this several times after the car has been ran. After vehicle has cooled down, remove radiator cap (a bear of a job itself) and check fluid level (bottom of neck). Replace cap and top off reservoir. Another way is to have the frontend on a set of ramps to ensure the radiator is the highest point of the car.

I can't get my Aztek Gear Shift button to press in. It is stuck in park. I have tried turning the key and it will turn but the button won't budge.

At my old location I would come out to the car in the morning and see that someone had been in my car on numerous occasions I even saw that someone had tried to stick something in the Key section on the ignition thing.

most likely it is ur brake pedal switch, it just behind the brake pedal arm, this switch must be triped by pushing the brake in order to shift into gear, if switch goes bad u cant shift. best of luck

Where is door lock relay?

Switches on both sides unlock but don't lock. 25A fuse is good. I hear a faint click sound when door lock switch is depressed that sounds like it's coming from BCM. My understanding is the door switch sends signal to BCM which then causes by grounding wire actuator to work. Is there a door lock relay on the BCM? Rather than replace and have dealer reprogram a new BCM, I'd prefer to replace relay if I can locate it.
