Hi food for thought, have a look for a pannel under the steering will if there is one there it should say what all the fuses are for on the door, hope this was some help.

Your car is equipped with a fuel vapor recovery system, it is faulty and failing to vent on filling, you need a dealer to check into this as special skills and tools are required do the testing

Water can conduct electricity and cause your problems. Door lock mechanism or comfort module. I'd have to the dealer take another look for corroded wiring or moisture.

Is it possible that you fixed the first problem but now it's got an ignition problem like worn out wires or cap that are causing trouble after moving them around? The coil lead wire used to short out against the coolant lines in that model, and there are supposed to be plastic spacers to keep the wire from touching the hoses. And check the timing again.

For the Volkswagen cars the Throttle body is actuated by a motor and sensor. The motor opens and closes the throttle at idle to allow more or less fuel in as needed. Over the miles as the car engine ages and accumulates dirt the Engine control unit has to push the motor rod out a little further to allow more air into the engine. The P1582 code is thrown when the motor of the TB is at its end of travel and cannot go any further. If you are VERY technical and DIY with cars you can possibly clean it but its a laborious task. Fualt Code P1582 ? Idle adaptation at limit

Noises are needed to be heard to diagnose. Have a shop listen to the noise.

There is only one coolant pump. Front of engine. Noise could be crank bearings or piston wrist pins. Find some that can tell. either way it is an engine rebuild or replace.

melted pump may suggest it is running more than it should, check for leaks in system. split hose or loose fitting is the likely cause

Before that 6th or 7th try when it finally cranks what is it doing when it's not starting? Sounds of any kind? Anything else?

Easy fix after you get hood open. They are very substantial latches for security reasons. Does the handle pull the cable all the way out? Hopefully the cable has broken near the Handle and the outer houseing can be pealed away from the cable up to the fire wall. Then a vicegrip plier can be used to grip the pull cable. and unlatch the hood.
