Timing chain replacement

I will quote from the book---"timing chains located at rear of the engine . Removal/installation requires transmission and flywheel removal. All bolts with an angular torque setting MUST be replaced " You will probably find a belt at the front as well. IT does not state a time for the job but with the transmission out I would be looking at around 8 hours for the job to be done properly. I would be getting other quotes as I cannot see 35 -40 hours to pull a transmission and fly wheel and replace 4 chains . If you are not looking an accredited Audi service centre then I might suggest it as there are specialist tools involved.. The chain costs can be checked at the Audi spares department but I suspect that it will be close to the money.

Hi Julian, the pin should be straight.the only way it could get bent is if undue pressure was applied with limited travel.your mech will understand.

Where abouts on the engine

THi there; The V.ehicle identification number usually includes the code you seek. The owners manual explains the meaning of each number and letter in the VIN. Good Luck and thank you for using fix-ya.

I have a 97 s4 with high miles. Last week I had to

Intake or Exhaust manifold? Welding on either one is not common practice, please include more info and detail if possible. Also, check the puddle to see if it is oil, transmission fluid (will appear kind of red) or antifreeze (will feel sticky once it dries a little on your fingers).

What is the correct air

Hi.

This are rice tires. The pressure depends on what you want to get from your tires.

Ideal pressure for races range from about 5 PSI below maximum pressure to a value near to maximum pressure. A good value for racing will start at about 45 PSI, up to 50 PSI.

Keeping the tires at race pressure (use 45/46, not 50) will give you good performance, but driving will be quite harsh.
For a good performance on everyday driving you can keep the tyres at 35 to 38 PSI, depending on terrain.

Here specs table.
Regards.

Audi S4, popping sound from from outside front

It sounds like the CV joint is at the end of it's life and needs to be replaced soon as possible before a total failure which would be an extra cost to tow it to the auto shop. Note it's better to have the CV joint repaired at a transmission shop since that's what they specialize in. Good luck and keep me posted.

Abs sensor light wont go off my 2005 polo

Your ABS systems use a combination of electronic and hydraulic systems to modulate the brakes individually to prevent them from locking up. ANTILOCK systems consist of wheel speed sensors, a hydraulic control unit (HCU), and an electronic control unit (ECU). Because of how complex the system is your computer does a self-test. If the check is successful, the ANTILOCK and BRAKE lights will go out within a few seconds. If one of the component of the ABS system fails to pass one or both lights will remain lit. One or both warning lights may also come on while driving, also indicating a problem. If just the ANTILOCK warning light comes on, some ABS component has failed, but the car still has hydraulic brakes. The grinding noise could the the ABS pump or your brake pads could to worn to the metal backing and grinding against the brake rotors. I recommend a inspection soon for your safety.
