That is code 18. Means either crank sensor or camshaft sensor error....

Could also be fuel filter or coil pack.

There should be a plastic box next to the battery that contains the ECM.

it is not a new tranny until you know exactly what the problem is run the fault codes to see if there are servo/ solenoid problems first or take it to an accredited auto professional shop for a proper diagnosis and quote

Best guess would be the electric fuel pump inside the gas tank. Common problem.

Rather then guessing have the vehicle checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes in the air bag control module . What year is chevy ? Did you have new u-joints installed CORRECTLY... the drive line balance is tricky... try rotating the drive shaft 180*.. ALSO - you can rotate the drive shaft one (transmission) spline at a time (you have to remove the drive shaft each time) - (with the rear wheels OFF the ground so you can rotate the rear end a "spline" each time..its TIME consuming!!Was the "new" driveshaft a NEW one or a used one?... take it back to the company that did the work, take the boss for a ride and show him what his "new" driveshaft is causing.

Backfire is the result of unburned fuel in the exhaust igniting. I would look at the timing. Could be out enough for this to be the cause. Good starting point in my opinion. Not usually a plug issue.

More then likely the sending unit is faulty, but to be safe hook up a mechanical test gage at the oil pressure sender port and check oil pressure hot engine, if it is steady then replace the sending unit.

Check your stabilizing link only thing is you have to remove it to see if it's damage.
