According to the owner's manual for 2009 on pages 464-65:
(1) open the liftgate
(2) remove the two fasteners from the inboard side of the taillight housing.
(3) insert a trim stick between body panel and outboard side of the taillight housing with one hand and grasp the flange on the inboard side of the taillight housing with the other. use the trim stick and hand pressure together to disengage the taillight housing from the vehicle.
(4) rotate the bulb's electrical connector 1/4 turn counterclockwise (lefty loosey) and remove it from taillight housing.
(5) remove the bulb from the connector socket and install replacement bulb.
(6) install the bulb and connector assembly into the taillight housing and rotate the connector 1/4 clockwise to lock it in place
(7) reinstall the taillight housing and fasteners.
don't be surprised if you crack a fastener or two. i hope this helps--good luck. jono

How do I check the transmission fluid on a 2009

How do I check the transmission fluid on a 2009 Dodge Journey with the 3.5 liter engine. There is no transmission dipstick.

below is info from the owners manual. I do not have a repair manual, but you may be able to buy one that would say how to check the transmission fluid on the 3.5L. It sounds like they don't expect you will need to check it.

Fluid Level Check - Vehicles with 3.5L Engine

The automatic transaxle has no dipstick and is dealer

serviced only.

Fluid Level Check - Vehicles with 2.4L and 2.7L

Engines

Use the following procedure to check the automatic

transaxle fluid level properly:

1. Park the vehicle on level ground.

2. Run the engine at curb idle speed for a minimum of 60

seconds.

3. Apply the parking brake fully.

4. Place the shift lever momentarily in each gear position

ending with the lever in PARK.

5. Wipe the area around the dipstick clean to eliminate
the possibility of dirt entering the transaxle.

6. Remove the dipstick and determine if the fluid is hot

or cold. Hot fluid is approximately 180°F (82°C), which is

the normal operating temperature after the vehicle is

driven at least 15 mi (24 km). Hot fluid cannot be held

comfortably between the fingertips. Cold fluid is at a

temperature below 80°F (27°C).

7. Wipe the dipstick clean and reinsert until seated. Then,

remove dipstick and note the reading.

a. If the fluid is hot, the reading should be in the

crosshatched area marked "HOT" (between the upper

two holes in the dipstick).

b. If the fluid is cold, the fluid level should be between

the lower two holes in the area marked "COLD."

If the fluid level is low, add sufficient fluid through the

filler (dipstick) tube to bring it to the proper level. Do not
overfill.

This is a notorious problem with '08/'09 Journeys. Unfortunately Dodge, nor the dealers have identified the root cause. Dealers will start by replacing the WIN (wireless ignition) module, then the starter, followed by relays, the ELV module, and finally send you on your way. Soon you will stranded with a NO START / CRANK INOP problem again. There is no real solution identified... ...and that's a travesty. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

dodge journey has heat on drivers side and cold on passenger and rear. clicking noise from dash on paasenger side

clicking coming from passenger side of dash when unlocked or door opened. It will stop after about 10 seconds. Heat only on drivers side, luke warm to cold air on passenger side and in rear. I believe it is the blend door. it sounds like its trying to open but wont. it has been doing this for about 6 months but then just this week in the really cold weather it has started with only heat on the drivers side. is there a way to calibrate it or does the whole heating unit have to be replaced. Really trying to avoid having the dash takin completly off. Hoping can fix through the glove box but i think i might be SOL.

how to add freon to a 2009 dodge journey

how do you add freon to the ac system if the compressor is not engaged?

You need 22oz for a "front only" a/c system and 32oz of R-134a refrigerant for "front and rear" a/c system.

The compressor is off likely due to insufficient refrigerant charge in the system. Once the minimum required charge has be provided, the compressor clutch should engage (check for blown fuse if it does not). Refrigerant is added only to the low or suction side of the compressor and only as a gas. Do not invert the refrigerant tank in an attempt to add refrigerant as a liquid! Placing the tank in warm water is a better way to fill the system (raises the pressure in the tank) without concern for slugging the compressor.

how to adjust headlights on 2013 dodge journey

Driver side headlamp illuminates in a circle, shining on the ground directly in front of the vehicle and about 10' in the air. When I pull in my garage the passenger light has the nice line across the wall. The driver side looks like a flashlight on the wall. Dealer says it just needs to be adjusted. How do I adjust this?

Wahoo do is pop the hood, and there should be two-three screws around the headlamp assembly. These adjust the light directions. But you'll need to pull the vehicle away from a solid wall by about ten feet I think it is, and mark off a little area to adjust the lights at the correct level. You will be able to find this at you
ocal auto parts store. I usually go to Advance Auto, or Auto Zone. They have the little kit that helps you get all the marks on the surface you are using.
